Chips: 35 | | | Ceramic chip hit the floor = Destroyed? Well, I'm really happy with my new tiki kings set. I wanted a Paulson Pharoah's set but i found a good deal on the tikis...
I already droped a paulson on the floor, no problem. But the first tiki i droped splashed into 3 pieces
Is it common with ceramic chips?

I do not have any of the Tiki chips, but I do have NJ and Chipco ceramics and have never had a problem like this. It is possible to chip or scratch them if you really try, but I have never had any substantial damage from dropping them. Not even on cement or tile.
Could it have been a fluke? I wouldn't request you to try and recreate it in fear you might break another chip, but do you think there is any chance it may just have been an unfortunate anomaly?

I don't know if this is "common" with ceramics ... I have Chipco ceramics, and although I take precautions as to not let them fall on the ground, I think they CAN survive a regular fall to a hard floor ... with out breaking into pieces ... regular being accidentally falling to the ground without intentional force.
What kind of fall did this chip endure?
Maybe this is only an issue with this particular chip maker. |

Chips: 5,098 | | | Re: Ceramic chip hit the floor = Destroyed? Me too -- I have Tikis and the ONLY time I've broken a chip is when I dropped one on the tile floor -- I got two pieces. Oh well, that's why I ordered extra. Quote: |

Chips: 9,136 | | | Re: Ceramic chip hit the floor = Destroyed? I have Chipcos and we play on a table over stained concrete floors. There is a rug, but the chips have been dropped several times. No damage yet, but I can imagine both clay and ceramic can be brittle. Quote: |

Chips: 14,783 | | | Re: Ceramic chip hit the floor = Destroyed? I have samples of most ceramic chips (Chipco, NJ, CasinoTek, BRPro) and drop tested them from my table to the floor - which is a pergo type click together floor made of cork over concrete - with no damage to any of them.
Plus an 8 year old, 5 year old and 3 year old have built towers that have crashed.
Hopefully it was was a one time thing and won't be a theme.
