Anyone tried maganetizing metal insert chips to help stacking?

Hello all, I have a set of Jackpots Casino's with metal insert. The chips are way too slippery to have fun with. I was thinking of attempting to magnetize them - has anyone done this? If so what were the results? Thanks.

Well they'd need to be ferrous (iron) in order to be magnetized and they are most likely aluminum or something. Have you tried putting a magnet near them to see if they are attracted.

Yes, actually one of my notebooks has a magnetic closure. I mistakenly set some chips on it and one stuck to the closure.

Magneto - Never play Hold'em against him with a set of metal inlay/insert chips, he's a sore loser.

i'm no physics expert, but it seems to me that if you try to magnetize a chip, you're going to end up with one positive side and one negative side.

so if all the chips are facing the same way, you're set, but otherwise half the chips will repel each other?

I am no expert, but its a good point. If you have ever tried to stack magnets, you'll know its not a good idea to magnatize chips...IF the objective is to get them to stack straight.

Not to mention the problems faced when the opposition sits down to play with a big ole magnet as a card capper!

It's all good -- your chips will repel each other and fly over to my stack where they'll stick and never move!

LOL when you drag a pot you could literally just grab one chip and 'drag' the pot to you...

Re: Anyone tried maganetizing metal insert chips to help stacking?

I found the best way to deal with the stacking issue is to remove all metal insert/slug chips from play and replace them with some faux clays. You will never have a problem again.
