I've got 800 Egyptians in it and it weighs a ton! I don't plan on carrying it much, since I just use the chips at my home game, but how sturdy are these things?

THanks, Bee
I've been carrying around 1000 dice chips in it for almost a year...no problems yet

Yeah but you know it knows they're dice chips. Put some uncirculated Dunes in there and you know it'll break before you walk 5 steps (maybe more if you're about to walk over rocks or out onto a deck over water or something like that).
But seriously the acrylic birdcages are pretty sturdy. As long as you don't bang them around or anything they'll hold 1000 clays without any problems.
I bought the exact same chip case from eBay about 6 months ago. The guy I bought it off in the US shipped it to me by boat (even though we had agreed air) and when it got here 3 months later it was in bad shape. The base was missing a screw, and the clear cover was cracked and even had bits at the bottom that had fallen off.
As it is the only chip case I have at the moment I use it to store 900 clay chips, buttons and cards. Over the last 6 months it has travelled to games regularly and gets knocked around a bit in the car.
Despite all this it hasn't broken yet (touch wood). While I can't say I trust it with the missing screw and damaged cover it hasn't done me wrong yet, so I dare say one in good condition would easily support 1000 chips.
