Hybrid casino cash set

I came up with an idea for a casino cash set and wanted to run it by you guys. Since it's hard to obtain a full playable set of casino chips I was thinking you could get each denom using the same mold of choice. You would find the mold in each denom from whatever casino you want and then pursue it. This would make it easier to find chips and mint ones too...I think. You could either do a Vegas set, Puerto Rico set, Reno set, or a World wide set. Only rule is you would have a different casino for each denom. What do you think?

Re: Hybrid casino cash set

I know several folks who have done this and like the idea myself.

In fact, I've recommended it to Roland who is working on a commemorative casino chip set. Why not commemorate a best of breed set?

Great idea.

Re: Hybrid casino cash set

My question with this idea would be this:

What if you used a Paulson Fantasy pre 2005 Bond .50, a Vineyard $1 with the full grand inlay, a Dunes $5 with the classic style inlay, then back to a Bond classic $25, and a New Yorker $100, then finally a Pharoahs $500 and $1000 for the set up?

Or for example, a Bud Jones style chip $1 from some local casino, mixed with a Mullet Bay coin inlay $5 chips, then a Maxamillion for the $25 and $100?

I'm not sure if I would like this but have not really tried it either.

Re: Hybrid casino cash set

My idea for this is that it could go one of three ways.

1st and my favorite idea is to create a best of breed replica chipset. Maybe a Condado 500, Sands 100, Pioneer Club 25, Dunes 5 and Mapes 1 - or something like that.

2nd idea would be a chipset comprised of today's casino chips, but that would be in the out of sight price range category unless you used all $1 chips from different casinos to represent the various denoms. I see this as being terribly confusing although I've seen it done successfully with roulette chips. I like denoms though.

3rd idea would be to make a best of breed set from all the awesome fantasy sets available like Samurais, Pharaoh's, etc.

Re: Hybrid casino cash set

I guess the idea is to make it look like a casino cash set even though it isn't. Having the same mold for each denom thus the same inlay respectively. I'm noticing more of the grand molds by Paulson and it doesn't do much for me. Anyhow other than the different inlays per denom you wouldn't know it's a hybrid until you started playing with the chips. You still have the different colors and values on the chips so it wouldn't stick out like a sore thumb. Just an idea, nothing more.

Thanks

Sorry about posting the thread in the wrong the place, I thought since it was casino chips it was OK.

Anyhow a best of breed replica would be interesting. Kinda like the replica Cobra's, kinda hard to get the real mcoy when they're $1 million. Same with those chips you mentioned, very pricey. That would be the lure of the sets IMO, you can't get them anymore except in a Fantasy set.

Re: Hybrid casino cash set

Not sure who moved your thread, guess that one of the mods was paying attention and thought it better placed here.

I agree regarding the lure of the best of breed fantasy set. Very appealing to me.

I also like the other idea tossed around of doing a then and now casino replica set.
