Chips: 1,211 | | | A long, stupid question... and a long, stupid, rant Help me. I have too many chips, most of them cheap. I want to get a nice set, I don't want to pay. I hate this website!
So, I have a set of 300 of the "Las Vegas" pro clay chips in black, yellow and purple which are part of a larger 1350 chip set I use for big, big, tourney. The 300 set is much nicer than the larger set that I bought from different vendors over different times. The 300 chips have rounded edges and are slightly heavier. They are so distinct, that I sat up the other night going thru the entire 1350 of them and managed, in poor lighting, to pick out exactly the good 300 on the first try.
So, I was thinking of trying to get some RT plastics to "match" this set which, from what I can tell, is pretty close in appearance to an RT plastics chip. I would put new labels on all of the chips. What is my question, I barely remember now... Oh yeah, I will get RT samples, but -
1. Do you think this will work? and
2. I was going to use this "small set" for low limit cash games and make the chips as follows -
150 blacks as $.25
100 purples as $.50
75 new yet to be determined RTP's as $1
50 yellows as ??? This is my question would you make them $2 or $2.50?
25 new yet to be determined RTP's as $5
I know, I know, I swear, I know its a lot of colors. I don't care. I just want to know if you would make the RT $2 or $2.50. I would likely also use these as one-table tourney chips so I will likely make the denoms just 25, 50, 100, 200 or 250 and 500.
Also, feel free to offer any words of encouragement, help, denigration, referrals to 12-step programs, anything else, I need them. |

...but if you're playing $0.50/$1.00 limit hold'em that $2 chip comes in real handy if you run out of $1 chips, because the $5 chip is higher than the typical cap of $4 in bets on the later rounds.
This is, however, about the only worthwhile use I can think of for a $2 chip. Even then, you're probably better off just getting more $1 chips if you can afford 'em.

Chips: 1,700 | | | Re: A long, stupid question... and a long, stupid, rant 1. Will this work? Maybe. You'll definitely be able to tell the difference between the two sets, I don't think there's any way around it.
2. If you're not wedded to what you have this is probably better:
100 X 25¢
250 X 1$
50 X $5.00
You didn't say how many folks are typical for the game you're buying for but the stacks should be big enough to work with. You're bank was $387.50 ($77.50/5 players or $38.75/10 players). The above bank is $525.00 ($105./5 players or $52.50/10 players). I'm pretty sure at the stakes you're describing the $1 chip being the most used for bets. |

jw | Just get enough $1 chips so that you don't run out so you won't have to worry about that. |

Chips: 1,211 | | | Re: A long, stupid question... and a long, stupid, rant Ok, thanks for the responses. I know that a $2 chip is not a good idea, the problem is that I can no longer get the "Las Vegas" chips like the ones I have so I am stuck with 150 black, 100 purple and 50 yellow. I figure if I get 75 other for $2 between the 100 and 50 and then 25 other for above the yellow, I will have 5 denoms that at least make up a "set" and have enough cash to allow for 8 folks at $40 per man, which I think this will do.
I know the RTP's are going to be different, but my hope is that they will be pretty close. Part of the appeal is that two of the higher denoms will have a slightly different edge configuration. I hope the weight and size is the same, we shall see. If that is the case, I will be pretty happy with this "set". | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
