You could spend a few days/weeks reading the forums and learn lots about your options. It would help if you could narrow your search a bit. There are probably three criteria that would help to focus on:
1) Price. There's a range of ceramic prices from around $.30 to $1+
2) Manufacturer. All chips from a given manufacturer are pretty much the same, the only difference being the graphics. For me personally, I think you pretty much get what you pay for and my favorites, in order, are Chipco (best), BRPros, NJ. I don't have any samples of SFC chips yet -- but I'm not aware of any off-the-shelf cash sets being available. There's apparently a 5th ceramic mfg -- whoever makes those Coconut Tree Casino chips --- and I'm not particularly impressed with those.
3) Design/graphics. Do you want off-the-shelf chips, or are you looking for customs? Also, since you specified that you want a cash set, you should determine the smallest denom you'll need. Some sets stop at a $1 chip, some have a $.25 chip, and very few have smaller than that. So if you need a $.05 chip, for example, your choices are much more restricted.

Chips: 1,816 | | | Re: What's your favorite Ceramic chip? i've had custom chipcos and br pros, and have played with nj's desert sands and skulls. for sound, feel, and stackability... i think nevada jacks are the best. for image quality i like the br pro and chipco the same. i like the feel and stackability of the br pro ALOT better than the chipco's though. although many people prefer the chipcos to all. i would definetly get samples of each. just make sure you get newer samples of the br pro, because after the kokopellis and tikis, they changed the chip and improved them greatly. |

ChipCos are the best as far as all around quality. Their downsides are art cost and limited color palette. Still they're king of the hill.
Nevada Jacks and BR pro both have good quality, definitey a step down from the above, but are much cheaper. The printing is not as sharp as ChipCO. NJ's have 1 week turnaround from art approval. I just got some of these which you can read about in the Custom Gallery section if you're of a mind. |

Chips: 13 | | | Re: What's your favorite Ceramic chip? actually I'm just looking for some "over the counter" chips, not custom. I like my New Yorkers for regular tourney play, but I wanted to mix it up and get some ceramics for cash... nothing too outrageous in price... Ideally $.75-$.85 |

Chips: 29,466 | | | Re: What's your favorite Ceramic chip? FWIW: Some of my personal favorites.
1. Egyptians (Chipco). I have a large set of Egyptians, and am quite happy with them. When I bought them, the availablity of the octagons and plaques is what pushed me over the edge. Unfortunately, those are no longer made. Also, at that time, there were fewer choices available. I might still buy Egyptians today, but the choice would be more difficult.
2. Tikis (BRPro). I've always liked the Tiki design, and those are great chips.
3. Kokopelis (BRPro). Again, a great chip and a very nice design if it appeals to you.
4. Those "groovy" (Poker Pad (BRPros)) chips are kinda funky. I was thinking about them again this morning. In a way, they have the same "fun" kind of feeling to them (as do Nana's custom NJs) as the Tikis. If your home game is more of a "let's get together and have a good time" than it is "serious casino environment high-stakes life-changing money do-or-die", then some funky chips could help set the tone.
NJ makes a fine ceramic, but none of the standard designs have much appeal to me personally.
BTW: In my previous post, I omitted CasinoTek ceramics as a manufacturer. They make a fine chip, I think, but you don't hear much about them.
Are you thinking about getting customs made?
