Chips: 1,845 | | | Your Presidents - For looks or for play? I know this has been discussed before the chips got here, but now that you have them, are they going to see action? I had intended to use them as my new cash game setup, but now that I have them, I really don't think I want them in use. Isn't that stupid? They're just so nice and have such sharp edges, I'm not sure if I can stand other grubby hands all over them!
I'm not too concerned about the 1's and 5's since they seem to be fairly common and not that valuable, but I don't know if I could stand my 20's in there splashing around.
So am I being an idiot about this or should I be looking into keeping them in a hermetic case with a helium blanket? |

You'd really have to know your players to use the higher denom PNYers in a tourney. In most of our games one 1k chip would be worth about as much as first place. Would hate to have people taking "souvenirs" |

Now the NY'er $20, $100 and $500's are in the same league beauty wise in my opinion. I can't see playing with them. |

Would hate to have people taking "souvenirs" | Well I only have a cash setup. Mostly 1's, a rack of 5's and a stack of 20's, so I don't have to worry about the high denoms. And I know my guys pretty well, so I'm not too worried about anything walking off. I guess my biggest concern, if I've learned anything by being part of this site, is that I'm sure something else will come along at some point that I'm going to want and I'll probably look to sell these. I'd hate to destroy the value these have by getting them dirty and broken in. Especially the 20's. But at the same time, I didn't spend the money to get these to have them sit in their racks and gather dust.
Just curious to see what others think. How much value is lost if they go from mint to near mint? Realistically, the 20's aren't going to get into play anyway, they'd mostly just be colorup chips. But I would imagine the 1's would get dinged up a bit, especially being whites.
This is why I generally don't buy myself nice things!!! |

Chips: 110 | | | Re: Your Presidents - For looks or for play? I use some for a game with friend of mind and they alwas comment how nice they are, infact if I dont' bring them out the complain and the game just isn't the same real casino chips are just more authentic. I dont' think I would use them though if I didn't know the people. I just have to keep telling myself I only paid 1.40 a piece for most of them and not think how much they are worth now when they splash the pot. |

You'll get a greater variance from one random auction to another. Go ahead and play with them a few times if resale is your concern. |

Chips: 233 | | | Re: Your Presidents - For looks or for play? I dont even own any Presidents, wish i did though. but the way i see it is. If i had them, i would most sertainly use them, thats what they were made for in the first place.
ask you self this. did i buy them just to make money off them?
if you did dont use them. if you didnt why not use them in play and feel the greatness that they are. i personally find used and broken in chips very charming. but i guess thats just my oppinion. |

Chips: 1,142 | | | Re: Your Presidents - For looks or for play? i can understand not using them with strangers, but if you are playing with your friends, it would be extremely retarded to not use them. Why would you buy them in the 1st place? and no, in a normaly weekly game they will not wear to the point where their values will decrease. Most casino chips take more abuse in 1 week than your Presidents will succumb in your life X 5 | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
