Chips: 1,736 | | | Chipco texture I'm seriously considering having a set of customs made. Even though I like the clack of clay's I'm leaning towards the ceramics because of several reasons (couldn't really get the mold I want in a clay anwhow without it reaching about $1.50 per chip!).
I have a question for those of you that own Chipco's. I have several samples laying around - crystal oysters, MSPatton's business card, chiptalk.net chip, couple of chips from casinos, and one 1000 Egyptian chip. I can put them all in a pile, close my eyes and pick out the Egyptian EVERY time just by the feel of that chip. It seems to have a slightly rougher texture to it. I absolutely love the feel of that one chip and I'm not as interested in the others that feel so smooth.
Do all the Egyptian's feel like this? Has anyone else noticed this? If I can't get some custom Chipco's to feel like that one, I think I will have to go with BR Pro's or NJ's, as the feel of a chip is so important to me and I like that texture. | | Sponsored Links | |

Was the round made slightly more textured as well? Does anyone know? And since I don't have a full set to compare, are all the egyptians slightly rougher than most Chipco's? Or is the one I have just an abberation? |

Best thing to do is get a full sample set from HPC and test for yourself. You're spending lots of money, might as well do it right. That was my mistake. |

Chips: 1,986 | | | Re: Chipco texture I don't think the $1000 round I have is any rougher or more textured than the other egyptians I have. And I haven't found the egyptians to be noticeably rougher than other chipcos but I don't have many other styles to compare with. Some of the Moneymaker River Poker Tour chips, a few chiptalk chips and some HPC business card chips. The River Poker Tour chips might be a little smoother but not terribly noticeably so. |

This is a personal thing but I also receive a sample set of Pharaoh's and to me the clay would be choice by a far margin. |

Maybe you have used the $1000 Egyptian less than you other Chipcos, and therefore it has lost less of its initial roughness. After some use they get a more "silky" feel.

Chips: 1,103 | | | Re: Chipco texture I think you are on to something krw17. There are known distinctions amongs Chipco chips.
The following description of those variations is from the FAQ @ thechipboard.com. WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE SURFACE FINISHES ON CHIPCO CHIPS? | Linen
Surface is covered with a grid of tiny little bumps. | | Recessed
The opposite of linen. The surface is covered with a grid of tiny little indentions. | | Satin
The surface feels smooth to the touch and is covered with a very slight mottled texture. This texture allows for much greater detail in the artwork. | | No Image Available | Slick
The surface is smooth, like glass. |
