Chips: 2,046 | | | graphic's on chips I really don't understand all the facination with graphics on poker chips, i mean yea they are great to collect, but i wouldn't really want most of those sets you see out there, like nevada jacks skulls, new yorkers, vineyards and the such are sets i really wouldn't want to use for a tournament or even a cash game! so if your a collector i can see you buying a sample set for sure, but playing poker with those kinds of chips that's a different story at least for me, I don't mean to offend, if that's what you like so be it, just don't expect everyone to fall in love with the latest chip being sold, too much graphics can ruin a otherwise good chip IMHO! |

I tend to bounce around on what I like. I'm not a big fan of a lot of the chips out right now--New Yorkers, for example. But I do like a lot of the custom chips that have been posted here. A few that come to mind are Big Slick, Jldecarlo, and the BPC WSOP replicas. |

Well many of us have gone great lengths to establish our "ID" for our games, and I know that my visiting players really appreciate it. It is just one more step towards getting away from the "garage game" into a "faux-casino" for the night.
Once you've put good money into nice cards, a comfortable table and chairs, personalized chips are the icing on the cake, and by far the most expensive purchase if done right.
Although I don't personally have custom chips yet, (not counting labeled Nexgens) they are on the drawing board. I spent about $600 on a custom built table with our company (On The Button) logo on it, and the chips will soon follow. I'm just waiting (and hoping) for the next ASM group buy, so that I can get some edge spots that are something nicer than ordinary 3 spot.
To each his own though. My friends dad has played poker every Wednesday for 25 years with a round rotating rack of bicycle chips. Every time I see him, I try to get a "sale" out of him with something even a little better (like Nexgens) but he scoffs and is just too old school. He would LOVE a set of custom clays, but would NEVER spend that much money on chips for the stakes they play at. |

Playing with them is just apart of collecting them. A nice set just enhances the gambling experience! Especially when your friends are envious of your nice chips. |

i dont understand the fascination either...
granted i did make personal graphics chips for my bachelor party.....
i enjoy the pharaohs for what they were (breakthrough in the home market of DOPE chips)....
i dont get as much use of them as i like because the tournament league we play in uses the old casino de isthmus chips (which are just as dope)....
maybe when istart hosting the pharaohs will be of good use....
the new yorkers, skulls are booty to me, but then again, my opinion is booty...lol
i like the vineyards though, they are ok.... |

Now there are different types of graphics. I am a huge fan of simple Graphics. I really like the old chips from the 50's and 60's
I don't like photos, (Some exceptions: Horseshoe Casino with Benny Binions photo Desert Inn with Wilbert Clark) No Super detailed drawings....especially with skulls, daggers, and blood.
I like it simple Black and white simple graphic with a Red Denomination.
If there IS other color, I prefer very simple:

And I'll sell all 300 plus of them to you.
They are actually quite cool but I don't need them so why am I even thinking about sellling these plain jane chips??? | | | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
