Were the $1000 CP chips numbered like limited editions are? If so was it some sort of secruity measure, or is it just a limited ed. chip?

The $1000's have a serial number assigned to each chip. When you say limited edition, I guessing that you are refering to the opening day chips. There are 12 different $5 and 12 duplicate $25 chinese new years chips. The $5 chips are marked 1 of 2000 and the $25 chips are marked 1 of 400.

The $500s (both variants) also have the serial number,
don't know about the $5000.
