New Yorker bubble?

I'd really like to keep my New Yorkers. You chip veterans, do you see the New Yorkers stabilizing at $3/chip, or at $1.25/chip? Or will it be the rare ones like $20, $1000 and $500 being $3 and up, and the others $1.25?

Re: New Yorker bubble?

Wish I knew the answer to that. Once they're all sold out I'm guessing closer to $2 a chip for the $1-$100. The $20's, $500's, and $1,000 will only get more expensive.

They'll be like this until all of them are sold and/or people realize the prices are asinine, or the next "greatest chip of all time" comes along. The people will have desperation sales of their NYs so they can be the next one.

Re: New Yorker bubble?

The $1 and $5 will be the cheapest of all of them and then it will be the $25, $100 then the $2.50 & $20(not many made). Then the $500. The thousand will not sell for much less then $30 or so and may reach as high as $50 or more when the intial sellers run out. It is nice and rare bacause it is a 43mm chip. You can not get that size for the home market at all. I believe that will never change from Paulson.

Has that happened before?

I think it's possible it's a fad, but as for selling out, as soon as the $20 and $500 sold out, they went way up in price, not down.

I don't know the "true" history of these chips, but the Winners Club and NOP chips from Paulson (formerly available in their retail stores) are oversized.

Re: New Yorker bubble?

I've been stewing in this for quite sometime myself. I didn't buy these chips to resell or to play with. I got them to collect. I have 200 of each and 120 1000s.

I have been thinking of selling 1000 of them and basically getting my half for free. I'll need to post it soon, because I too think that the prices will peter out to a more sensible amount. There are a lot of set builders running around now trying to fill in their collections. I am one of them, I was looking for 100 or each of the 1000s.

Thats when things went to hell. I was willing to go to 5 maybe 6 per. Then someone went to 8 and then 10 per. Then I was going at $10 per, thats when I thought I needed to have my head examined. As I was about to click send, my offer was terminiated, because they were getting MUCH more on ebay. Next thing I knew I was springing for $280 for 10!

I have given up trying to collect them all now. So, I'll wait for the price to drop, or the market to explode and reminisce about the time they couldda been had for 50 bucks a piece...

I meant in combination... they're sold out and people are realizing how ridiculous the prices are. I didn't really know how to word it. In any event, once the next chip comes along, they'll drop in price, I think. Maybe not.

Re: New Yorker bubble?

Poker in general is not a fad. So I do not believe the chips will be either.

Re: New Yorker bubble?

Then again, the Vineyards are still going for stupid prices, so I'm probably wrong, as usual.
