| | | Help me pick my NY denoms.
Thanks to Stank's donations (with an 's') last night and the Party Poker jackpot players' donations this morning, I'm getting me a free set of New Yorkers. I don't know what denoms to get, though. Or how many. The $1.25 price tag makes me think I should get 500, but I really don't need 500. I will never let these get used in a tournament with more than 10 people (I have like 2 friends, like I'm gonna let a bunch of strangers use my chips at another table), I have my Skulls for that. I'm thinking 100 $5s, 125 $25s, and 75 $100s... then I'll have to pick up some $500s from a nice Chiptalk member.
Everyone would start with 10-10-7. There's enough extra $25s to color up the $5s. Sound good? Or do I really need 500 (like I should ask that here). |

It doesn't really sound like you need a full 500, but I would definitely look at getting 5-10 if not 10-20 extras of the denominations you do buy. People think I am insane because I always get extras, even for my Trademark Paulson's and American Beauties which are both still easily accessible. I think of it this way, I plan on keeping these forever so if ten years down the road one gets lost, stolen, broken whatever, I want to have spares. This is my own craziness, but with chips this hard to get and where the prices may be even more ridiculous down the road, I would get at least 10 spares of each.

Good advice, though. I didn't even think of that. But spares down the road will cost $5/chip. |

sounds good. or how about a T1500 with 20 25s and 10 100s per player, no color up.

If you're starting with 10-10-7, you really can get away with 100x$5s, then 120x$25s can color up all the $5s, and 80-100x$100s is more than enough. If you could get 10-30x$500 then 350 chips max would take care of everything with a bunch to spare (when you get lots more friends).
Buy all you want, but 300+ chips is enough for a 10-person tourney. Give Stank back some of his money, or whatever.... |

The left side of my brain is telling me 300 is plenty of chips. 10-10-7 is fine.
The right side of my brain is telling me how pretty the $5s and $25s are. Who wins?  |
