I posted this earlier on another thread and wanted to see what your wife/fiance/family think about your poker chips & if they know what you really spent on them?

I think most of them fall into this category:

Buying poker chips for over $.03 per chip will never make sense to any wife, but they can buy about 50 pair of black shoes and still look for more when at the mall.

To women buying collectors chips is somewhere between buying dirt and a potato chip that looks like the Mona Lisa. They will never quite see them as we do, so we just need to understand that, and agree to disagree with them when it comes to this.

Is this like your situation or does she like them too.

Analogies, only way you can make them understand. I get a new wallet, I throw the old one out. Yet my wife will have 6-7 purses she cycles through throughout the year.

Poker Chips = Purses / Shoes / Jewelry / etc.

My wife makes fun of me for my chip addiction, but she is just as guilty with rubber stamps and scrap-booking stuff.

Up until a about a month ago we had a system of offsetting purchases - I spend $100 on poker stuff, she spends $100 on stamping stuff. Then came the day the Liberator Shapes arrived and now all of a sudden I have cart blanch to spend whatever I want.

Pre-Liberator: tit for tat
Post-Liberator: 1250 Vineyard Casino's, 48 Matsui Plaques, a ton of samples, putting together an order for custom wooden racks, and considering 1400 of BostonPokerChips WSOP replicas. The wife hasn't spent even $10 on stamping and could care less - she is encouraging me to buy whatever I want.

They do on America's Store from time to time, I have watched for the sheer entertainment factor when I was bored stiff. I love to watch those guys talk up the junk they are peddling - it is pure comedy.

my wife enjoys the nice chips but she won't give me the satisfaction of admitting it, she just says that she would be happy playing with coins. But then once in a while I catch her sitting at my table shuffling a stack of chips as she reads or watches tv.
