Chips: 6,624 | | | How should I expand my set of New Yorkers? I currently have the following breakdown:
120 $25
180 $100
180 $500
60 $1000
The set was designed for a 2 table T3000 with rebuys and add ons. I'm probably going to plunk down at least another $300 bucks before he runs out. So that calculates to 230 more chips.
Since he's out of the $1K chips and the primary $500, i'm thinking of expanding downward by buying some $5 chips. I figure I could possibly try to expand into a 3 table set by buying 150 $5 chips (5 $5 chips per person).
Does that sound right? Should I use the remaining 80 on $25? | | Sponsored Links | |

8 $25
8 $100
4 $500
I anticipate about 1 rebuy per person plus add ons. I start the blinds at $25/$50 but if expanding downward would give less starting chips and start at $5/$10 |

I start everyone off with
12 - $25
12 - $100
1 - $500
1 - $1000
Here are my breakdowns for 20 buyins and 10 rebuys
240 - $25
340 - $100
40 - $500
30 - $1000
0 - $5000
Now, when I bought my set, I based it off of 25 buy ins and 20 rebuys and came out with the following amounts for each denom (also I added some so I could color up each denom to the next).
300 - $25
500 - $100
65 - $500
45 - $1000
0 - $5000
I added a couple of extras for the color ups and "spares" in case some go missing.
25 - $25
25 - $100
85 - $500
100 - $1000
50 - $5000
My blinds start at $25/$50 as well |

That way you have 200 more chips on the table and everyone gets good deep stacks. No seriously it's a good idea. it's a good deal, these are not the droids you're looking for..... My blinds start at $25/$50 as well | I think starting everyone with 12 $25 and 12 $100 would create unmanageable stacks at the final table. When I did the two table with the breakdown I listed, It was still getting to be a pain to figure out match ups when someone lost an all in pot, etc. More $1K chips would help me here, but obviously that's not an option.
That's why I'm probably looking at expanding downward with $5 chips. More feedback would be appreciated. How does everyone else do it?
Maybe make the 3 table a T2000? |

Yeah, those damn $1K chips take up too much space anyway! How much do I have to pay you to take them off my hands? |

adding more tables to the tournament is all about having enough low denom chips IMO.
as far as unmanageable stacks - do you color up the $25's when they're no longer necessary? i always make sure i have enough $100's and $500's on hand for this, which makes the game go more smoothly while still allowing for big (but hopefully count-able) stacks at the final table.

gw- | Yeah, I color up the $25's when necessary. As far as buying more $25 and $100, i'm not sure I would have enough $500 to support 3 tables. Figure I have 180 $500
60 $1000
I could expand the $100's to 240 which would give 8 per player with 30 players. That's only 60 chips.
As far as expanding the $25, I already have 120 which works out to 4 per player in a 30 player tourney. If I went to 8 $25 per player, that's 120 more $25
So that would be
120 more $25
60 more $100
180 more chips = $234
I could just use the rest of the budget to buy secondary $500's and only use them when I am running the 3 table? Opinions? |

Chips: 457 | | | Re: How should I expand my set of New Yorkers? $5's don't play well in tourneys, they just add too many chips and you color them up fast anyways.
$25 and up chips are best for tourney sets. Get more $500's tand $100's to expand your set for your rebuys and addons. You'll be coloring them up at the final table anyways, but it would be nice playing a deep stack for the majority of the tourney. | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
