Chips: 11 | | | Paulson Trademark Colors and Chip Values After much research (thanks chiptalk.net and members) I took the plunge and purchased 400 of the Pauslon Trademark chips. The chips have such a great feel and I liked the colors and edgespots. I know many of the members dislike the inlay, and while I agree it is not the nicest thing around, it gets the job done of communicating the denomination to the player.
So far I have 100 each of the $5, $25, $100 and $500 chip. I usually play tournaments with $800 to $1,500 in starting chips, depending on the number of players. The blinds will start at 10/15.
I do plan to tweak this set over the next few months and end up at around 500-550 chips.
With those starting stacks, I will never need 100 of the $500 chip. But, I bought 100 because I got them for only $80. I know someone who is willing to trade 50 of the $500 chips for 50 of the $10 chips. And with my blinds at 10/15, the $10 chips would probably come in handy.
But, here is my dilemma; I visit Vegas fairly regularly, about twice per year. I play and stay at Mirage, MGM, Bellagio, which probably explains why I like the Paulson chips. Standard Vegas colors generally assign either blue or white to a $1 chip. And I have never seen a $10 chip in any of the places I have played in Vegas. So, even though a $10 chip might work well in my home game, I am having a hard time accepting a $10 chip. One part of me thinks that I should keep the set pure, with standard Vegas colors and denominations. The other part likes the look of the $10 chips, knows it will work well in my game, knows it will save some money over extra $5 chips and also knows that it is unlikely a single player at my home game could name standard colors and denominations like I could.
So, should I do what is actually best for my home game and my wallet? Or should I keep the set pure?
Thanks,
Ian |

Ian | You used to see more of the $10 chips in vegas. Usually what you will find is that if the casino has $10 then they will use blue for the $10 and white for the $1 and if they do not have a $10 chip they will then use a blue $1. (disclaimer) This is not always the case.
On the question of what you should do, I say skip the $10 chips as $5 are more univesal and just get more of the $5. Do what YOU like though. You are the one that has to live with the chips you play with.

Chips: 446 | | | Re: Paulson Trademark Colors and Chip Values I use $10 Trademark Paulsons in my games and it works out great, especially with the lower blinds. The color/edgespots for the Paulson $10 are one of my favorite combos so I couldn't resist adding them into the game. I say go with what you like. |

If you go into the Poker rooms at the Strip properties that you stay at, you'll probably find the $10 chips. They're used in the games starting at $20/40 limit as the sole denomination on the table. Quote: |

Chips: 12,507 | | | Re: Paulson Trademark Colors and Chip Values I love the Trademark Paulson's and think $5 and $10 chips are the nicest looking of the entire set. I use both regularly in home play. Don't worry about casino usage, its your game so use what you like.

Chips: 11 | | | Re: Paulson Trademark Colors and Chip Values What color does Bellagio use for the $10? I have honestly never seen one. I know they use blue for $1, I am guessing they use a different color for $10.
I suppose a $10 would make a lot of sense at the 20/40 table, but I play at 3/6 or 4/8, maybe a $100 NL game, or a tourney.
Ink_Junkie, I am with you, the $10 Trademark looks good.

Chips: 457 | | | Re: Paulson Trademark Colors and Chip Values buy 2 sets!
One tourney, and one cash...no $10 chip.
Then you'd have a set like a casino with denom chips, and NCV chips. |

Chips: 11 | | | Re: Paulson Trademark Colors and Chip Values Interesting color on the $10 chip. Good if you are a UF Gator fan, orange and blue.
Two sets is not an option, too expensive. This set can double as a cash set if needed. $5 is $.05, $25 is $.25, $100 is $1, etc.
