New Yorkers and a Cash Game Set

So, I was going to get my dad a set of New Yorkers for his birthday but I'm at a loss of what denominations to get him. He usually plays a home game of .25/.50 and mostly uses .25 and $1 denoms with some $5 thrown in to color up every now and then. By no means a big money game.

I guess I could always use the 2.50 chips a .25 chip, not a huge deal.

What breakdown in a 500 chip set for 10 people and some rebuys would everyone recommend? I was only going to get the $1, $2.50 and $5 chips but it seems like such a shame to only get 3 denoms when they all look nice. Maybe bumpt up to a 650 chip set and get about 20 of the other denoms?

What do you think?

Josh

Do what I do use the $25 as .25, the 100 as 1.00, the 500 as 5.00 and you can no longer get the 1000.

Re: New Yorkers and a Cash Game Set

Yeah, I thought about that, but they actually have the denoms that we need except for the .25, why use the $100 chip as $1.00 when there is a $1 chip?

Just curious

Re: New Yorkers and a Cash Game Set

I would imagine he likes the $100 dollar chips better....they are very nice in this set imo...Plus you can vary your game to play tournament style as well...

I do the same thing...use $25's as quarters sometimes, but never $100's for dollars or anything like that-

P.

At $0.25/$0.50, What amount does your dad usually buy in at? $10? $20?

Re: New Yorkers and a Cash Game Set

At a $20 buy in, he can simply move the decimal point left, and play the following:

$2/$4 DenominationChips
(T$200)$1.0015$15.00
$2.5018$45.00
$5.0016$80.00
$20.003$60.00
Total Chips:5)">52Total:$200.00

Above, the blinds would be $0.20/$0.40, or he can make it $0.30/$0.60

Re: New Yorkers and a Cash Game Set

Thanks for the suggestion. I think it's easier to stick to .25 and .50 instead of .20/.40 or .30/.60 , don't you think? Much easier denomination to work with.

That seems really confusing? Why not just ude th$2.50 chip as a .25c chip. thats what Im doing and it works fine

Re: New Yorkers and a Cash Game Set

Yeah, I guess I'm having two dilemmas right now. Do I use th 2.50 as a .25 chip or do I use the $25 as a .25 chip and do I only get the chips he will need for a cash game or do I get some of each. I feel bad buying 3 denoms when they're are so many and it's such a nice set.
