Dovetail Quarter Pie

I see the chip forge now offers dovetail, quarter pie, and half pie chip options.

I have seen chips like these, but rarely. There was a thread for a dovetail chip http://chiptalk.net/forum/showthread...light=dovetail

What types of chips were these patterns commonly used for? I assume the dovetali was used for hotstamped chips since an inlay would cover the dovetail.
