Instant Poker Tables has restocked all there covers and is back selling them. I just bought the 74x48 reversable green/blue. Once I get it I will let you know what I think of it.
Looking forward to your review, too. I'm interested in finding out if it has any padding in it, or if it's just the fabric itself. I picked up a draw-string type poker cover from a seller on ebay and wasn't really happy with it. No padding and it still slid around & bunched up even when tied down tight (on my table, at least). But it is better than a straight table cloth, I guess.
If you click on ORDERING on the website some of the choices say "w/ padding" and the dual sided green/blue cloth says "You don't need padding with the double layer cover". So it looks like they will have a soft padded feel to them.
Having 2 fairly decent quality tables now (just generic mass produced ones but decent quality 10 person hold-em tables) I can say that not everyone has room for a table like that. In my last apartment (2 houses ago) I would have killed for one of these; playing on a glass table is FAR from ideal and one of these would have been a world of improvement.
Plus being able to use one of these as a additional table is a nice thing; for example I run a 40 person quarterly tourney and being able to use one of these would mean that I wouldn't have to find a way to transport one of my friends tables (always the worst part of our tourneys). Or this could be a traveling table; throw it in the back the truck and and use it on vacation.
You're spending money on nice chips, now spend some money on a nice table.... or better yet, build yourself a fricken awesome table.
You're right, about the table vs. chips thing. In my case, I already have a nice 60" round poker table so I'm looking at options for a low-cost second and third tables for tournaments. Currently looking at the table below I can pick up for $200 shipped on clearance -- looks decent, but wondering if I'm still better off building one. Anyone have any thoughts on this table?
I'm definitely looking forward to this review. I did build my own racetrack table with the help of Scott Keen's website. But funds are a little low right now and if this cover really works count me in. Let us know how the cards slide.
I built a table - I consider it to be quite a nice table. But I really hate lugging it around to another person's house. The Instant Poker Table gets nothing but compliments when I bring it someplace. Padding is not required, but it does give it just enough cushion. Without the padding (which is just a scrap piece of velour that you put down first) it just doesn't feel right.
