Chipco Egyptians Advice Please!

I've been looking to pickup a set of the Chipco Egyptians for quite some time now, and it looks like holdempoker has them back in stock. My question for those of you who have had this set or any other nice chipco set, how is the wear and tear? I'd probably use them for a home game maybe once or twice a month. I do like the graphics on the egpytians, but if wear is an issue, will probably end up with the paulson pharohs. Any thoughts will be greatly appreciated!

Re: Chipco Egyptians Advice Please!

Well as far as I know this set has not been around nearly long enough to really show wear and tear. But I have had mine for about 4 months and we play with them for 5-10 hours per week and they show no sign whatsoever. I would suspect that they will eventually show some but that just adds character.

On a side note I looked at a lot of sets before I got mine and I could not be happier with my decision. I have 268 more and one of the 500 chip mahogony cases for a total of 568 chips(got mspatton figure how how many would fit snugly) I'll post some pics for ya on tuesday when I get them.

Re: Chipco Egyptians Advice Please!

In home game use like you say, your Chipcos will last frickin' forever.

Have you seen a review of these chips? There's one at http://chiptalk.net/forum/showthread.php?t=9463

Any wear from very heavy use would be lightening of the chip faces around the edges. Since there's a white "ring" designed at the very edge, even the first steps of wear would not be noticeable. It would be a looooonnnng time before these chips would look crappy (like, during your grandchildrens' senior years!).

Now, if you're considering the Chipco Egyptians vs. the Paulson clay Pharaoh's . . . there are many reasons to pick one over the other. But wear would not be a reason at all IMO.

Here's an (old) article comparing ceramic vs. clay:
http://chiptalk.net/forum/showthread.php?t=11262 and page 2: http://chiptalk.net/forum/showthread...=11262&garpg=2

Re: Chipco Egyptians Advice Please!

Thanks for the input guys, I have read several reviews, all positive. I was concered about the wear on these chips because they have such nice, vibrant colors, and I figured any noticable wear would diminish the outstanding looks of these chips. I was getting very close to putting in an order, but then read on another thread the chipco vineyards would be in stock next month, I might hold off and get a sample of those. Again, thank you for your comments.

Re: Chipco Egyptians Advice Please!

Once of twice a month is nothing as far as useage of the chips goes. Think of the casino such as the Luxor in Vegas that uses them 24/7. For home use, even once or twice a week, I would not worry about wear at all.
