Anyone capable of making WSOP replicas with lined up edgespots?
So i was looking at the WSOP replicas from chipco and man they look sweet. Wish I was around when the groupbuy was starting up. There is just one tiny flaw with them and that is that the edgespots don't line up with the faces. I know that is thing that chipco just can't do so the question is, who can? Can anyone do these type of custom chips with the edgespots lining up? In ceramic? Injected molded plastic? Clay?
I know you could do an ASM with a WSOP inspired theme but with their limited edgespots there's no way you could get as close as the Chipco's are to perfect. I'd much rather have edgespots that are not lined up with the face than edgespots that aren't even close to the same as the WSOP chips. Can NJ do lined up edgespots? Can Chipco do it if you pay more? Can we start a new company to make them ourselves? Chiptalk LLC?
Would love to get this lined up for next year's WSOP if we can.
Re: Anyone capable of making WSOP replicas with lined up edgespots?
The faces of the chip are printed seperately from the edges. The edges are rolled on, hence "rolled edges". NJ's does the same thing as Chipco. They roll the edges on.
Plastic is the only way to do it. Like the original WSOP chips. But you can't get them made.
Re: Anyone capable of making WSOP replicas with lined up edgespots?
I dont understand why Chipco can't line up the edges....rather, make changes to the manufacturing process which would allow that...I mean, of course Chipco makes awesome chips, but lets be honest....how lame is it that they can't line up edge spots on chips....just seems kinda ridiculous to me, but obviously i know nothing about the process or reasons why...If anyone cares to explain, im all ears.
Re: Anyone capable of making WSOP replicas with lined up edgespots?
I mean theoretically Chipco could manually make sure to start the rolled on edge at the right spot on the chip. Obviously a manual process like this would not only be ridiculously time consuming but also prone to operator error in a major way. But they could devise a mechanical/robotic/sensor method of doing it. Maybe they're working on it and by next year they'll have fixed the problem (a boy can dream can't he?).
There are no custom plastic chip makers?
BTW what about a clay chip maker that has more options in terms of edgespots? TR King? Blue Chip? I know they probably couldn't do the small dots on the edge in the middle but besides that could they do a fairly close replica that just has small edgespots in place of the middle dots where required?
Re: Anyone capable of making WSOP replicas with lined up edgespots?
The B&G Ceramics have edgespots lined up with faces, but they don't sell to the home market. At least they demonstrate that it can be done.
Maybe the BR Pros or CasinoTeks will work out the proces to align the edges?

Re: Anyone capable of making WSOP replicas with lined up edgespots?
has anyone ever checked into how much either the abiatti's or matsui's cost for the home market? I think they were quite pricey...but damn they are sick. (talking about the plastic/bud jones type chips here)
Re: Anyone capable of making WSOP replicas with lined up edgespots?
Once ASM (hopefully) allows the V-edge spots, we could make up a set of WSOP that mock the original Paulsons from the 1990's. That's be pretty sweet. I'd be in for a set or ten of those!
Re: Anyone capable of making WSOP replicas with lined up edgespots?
I dont see why it even matters
When the chips are stacked you only see the top chip and the sides of the rest. So you can't tell that the spots don't match.
The Chipcos look better than I thought they would in the pictures. I can't wait to get mine. I'm an ******* when it comes to details and I still think that set is damn good. As good as you can do for 70 cents a chip. If you want to $2+ per chip be my guest.
Re: Anyone capable of making WSOP replicas with lined up edgespots?
I think the chipcos look great and if they're the best we can get they're plenty good enough. But wouldn't it be nice to get them at $.70 a chip AND have the edge spots match up? It's definitely something you do notice; doesn't mean it's the end of the world but it would irk me a little.
