Chips: 80 | | | Another opinion needed for cash set Hey,
I'm making a 500 chip cash set. I was thinking of playing 0.10/0.25 NL or 0.25/0.50 NL at the highest. I plan on using the $100 chip as a $0.10 chip. The chips that I am ordering are labeled 0.25, 0.50, 1, 5, 25, 100, 500. We usually play 0.10/0.20 blinds with non-labeled chips. Should I use the $500 chip as a 5 cent chip? How many chips of each denom should I get? Thank you.
Edit:
After thinking this through, I'm pretty set on getting the $5, $25, $100, and $500 denominations. When playing cash, I could play by the denominations devided by 100 (so cents instead of dollars). This way, I could use the $5 as 5 cent chips in case I was to play mico limits. Although I have a tourney set already, I was thinking that I could also use this set as a tourney set because of the denoms I'm using (because often times when we play poker I bring my chips to the place we're playing and we decide there what to play). Can you please make some suggestions on how many of each denomination I should get? This set would primarily be used to play 20-30 dollar buyins, blinds are as stated above or lower. Thank you!
Another edit: Now I'm unsure again whether I should go with the high denoms or with a .25, 1, 5 and 500(used as 5 cents) set. The reason I am considering this setup is because I really like the pink chips, bad reason, I know, but they're PINK! I like the orange chips too but using them as 50 cents would be kinda useless and as 5 cents would be very confusing .

Seven denominations is 3 or 4 too many for a 500 set.
How much is the buy in for .10/.20 NL? $20?
How many people? 500 will do 8, maybe 10 players
Use 4 chips - a non-denom, $1, $5, $25
Non denom = 200 chips
$1 = 200 chips
$5 = 75 or 80 chips
$25 = 25 or 20 chips
The non-denom will work as your .10 or .25 chip for the small blind.

Chips: 80 | | | Re: Opinions needed for cash set I meant that I can choose my denominations and those are the 7 offered. The blinds we would play are 10 cent small blind, 25 cent big blind, and/or 25 cent small blind 50 cent big blind (this is the highest we will play but we usually play with a 10 cent small, 25 cent big blind) Thanks for the tip with the non-denomination. But if I "had" to use the labeled denominations, what would you recommend? Thanks? |

I would say that you might want to raise your blinds or consider using what you have. If you are doing it entirely for the love of the game (disregarding the financial equity) and want chips to accomodate your love of the game, then you might not mind spending a little extra money for hotstamped faux clays with whatever denominations you wanted plus your initials for a relatively cheap chip (somewhat help me out, but you could probably do it for less than .20 per). If your budget is higher than that, you can get nicer customs depending on how much you want to spend. If you told us what chipset you were looking at, I am sure that would help us narrow our advice.

Chips: 80 | | | Re: Opinions needed for cash set The reason that I am purchasing chips is that I received a PSO skulls set, so I figured that I could use the $1 and $5 from that. I would be getting these extras at 45 cents a piece. I'm pretty sure that I want to upgrade my chips to the skulls. Thanks for all of the opinions so far. |

I already have a set of nexgens for a tourney set. I wanted something a step up from them. Let's just say that I am set on getting these skulls and i'm very stubborn . |

Chips: 1,728 | | | Re: Opinions needed for cash set Then get the 25¢ skull chip for your .25/.50 game and continue to use the chips that you're using for your .10 game. If you think you just have to have a 10¢ denominated chip like the Nevada Jacks for that game contact Nevada Jacks, they make custom chips as well, I'm sure they could make something for you with a 10¢ denomination.
Alternatively, you could just use your Nevada Jacks set and just divide everything by 100. $5 for nickels, $25 for quarters, $100 for dollars. That way you can feel like you're playing for real money. Quote: |

But if I cannot find a feasible way of doing that in my game, I will definately follow your advice. Thanks! | | | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
