WooHoo!! I WON!

I won a Poker Tournament tonight and I am so pumped!!
Won $360.00, just had to share this little tidbit. So, it's getting pretty near the end of the tournament, there have already been several rebuys by the guys (2 rebuys for one of them), and I draw "the hammer". What the heck - I go "all in" and there's a fairly large pot, and I am immediatley called. My 72o is up against J6o, and a 2 comes up on the flop, and no other cards to help either one of us. Unbelievable - I win the hand with a pair of deuces! Ten tells me that this was a pretty gutsy move - but I just had to try it! Of course, it was dumb luck, getting a 2 on the flop.....but it worked (this time)!!

Would (or has) anyone tried this move before? How do you guys normally play the 72o? Just curious.....

Okay, I'm coming back down off my high now...

Re: WooHoo!! I WON!

congrats! I can remember my 1st tournament win. It was like what KGB said "YOU MUST FEEL PROUD AND STRONG.... STRONG ENOUGH TO BEAT THE WORLD"

With ASM introducing their new Edgespots, i think your money will be used with good cause.

Congrats BaNana - that's awesome!!!

How do I normally play 72o.. I fold it 99.99999% of the time.. If I can limp in with it, I will once in a blue moon, just on the off chance of hitting a dream flop.. I certainly wouldn't have gone all in with it - but whatever works, works!!!

Re: WooHoo!! I WON!

Funny, I won a tournament last week with 2-7. I had about a 2:1 chip lead and the other player doubled the big blind. I called for half price since the blinds were still pretty small, about 4% of the chips in play. The flop was 2-7-Q. He bet I called. Turn a 3. He bets I call. River is a 4. He checks, I go all-in, he calls and turns over AQ for top pair top kicker. I turned over the seven deucer and he was pissed. Anyway, fun to win tournaments and even funner to win money to buy new ASM chips with two-color edgespots.

Re: WooHoo!! I WON!

Sweet!
Congratulations on the win! And the hammer --- nice!
Gotta play the hammer, since you know AA is no good, even if you flop a set (remember that bad beat I put on you...)

It's fun to play the hammer different ways... sometimes like a large pair, sometimes limp, sometimes fold. I don't think I've ever gone all-in, though. I'll have to try that next time. I did commit suicide with it once when smoore just refused to fold his quad queens when facing the strength of my hammer...

Unless I'm on the big blind with no raises ahead of me, it gets folded.

Re: WooHoo!! I WON!

Well, it certainly was, uh....gutsy. All-in preflop with deuce-seven off?

Of course the other guy called with a hand almost as crappy.

Congrats

Almost is key, the other player was clearly in the lead going into the flop by a pretty large margin. All in with 72o? It boggles the mind. I don't know if I'd call it 'gutsy'. Maybe 'nutsy'.
