Chips: 94 | | | Best Nexgens There are a few models of nexgens, which are (in your opinion) the best? Lucky bees seem to be popular around here. |

Not crazy about the other River Poker Tour colors (the white is OK). I have a few of the Lucky Bees and made labels to use them as high denom chips to go with my River Poker Tour tournament set. |

Wow I just recieved my sample (2) ASMs and they smell like cow manure. Maybe it's just mine, but they really do. Nice chips, but for around the same price I'd prefer NJs.

I think there were a lot of people who thought that someone in China was smoking funny cigarettes or something when those came out. Looks like the same may be happening with the Lucky Bees (though personally, I kinda liked them when i first saw them.)
And I think what Hog Wild is saying here is that they all tend to handle the same, and the difference is primarily in the design. Quote: |

But I've heard too many horror stories of the edgespots seperating slightly from the chip body with these, so I went with the 8002's.
[Sidebar: does anybody know if the manufacturer has corrected this problem with the River Poker Tour chips?]
Still, I find the 8002's to be a very close second to the River Poker Tour's visually, and am very happy with them!

I suspect this "separation" is more likely a description of some of the flashing that is left over from the manufacturing of the chip; not at all unusual for an injection molded item. This flashing is easily peeled away if it bothers you, personally I just left it there and let it get worn away by itself. I've yet to see any indication of the edgespots separating. I don't know where you've heard your 'horror stories' but I've only seen one person on this site that thought that the edgespot might be separating, and there's been no further confirmation that any of the edgespots actually did separate. I only intend to buy Green, Black, Purple, and Yellow, so I don't care that the lower denomination chips don't match. The edgespot colors on the 4 chips I'm interested in continue to grow on me. |

The reds also have 3 single color edge spots, which is different than the other RPT's, and I could have let this slide... but the diamonds just throw it all off. Genreal consistancy... is it too much to ask for! |

Chips: 1,728 | | | Re: Best Nexgens The red, white, and blue chips are from an earlier generation along with the 8000 series Nexgen chips. The other RPT colors came out with the 8002 series of the Las Vegas Nexgens though they remained as part of the 8100 series. Hence you have two generations of products in the same branding and they are consistent within their generations. while you may seee a lot of this on forums like this, if you happen to get a chance of visit a real casino, you may find that there may be general inconsistencies in their chips as well, especially if it's one of the casinos that may have several generations of rack chips combined with some commemoratives that may also be in circulation on the floor. Additionally, some casinos may even choose to use an entire different brand of chip for some denominations (e.g. Chipco Unicorns for fractional chips, Blue Chip for $1 chips).
If the difference between the two generations of RPT chips is an intolerable factor for your choice, you would probably be better off with one of the other Nexgen lines, like the 8000, 8002, or 8200 series where the chips of each color have the same rolling edge design. Quote: |
