What do I need to complete my cash set?

Morning all -

I am building a cash set for NL.
10-20 players $.50/$1 ($40 min. Buy-In) or $1/$2 NL ($100 min Buy-In).
I will have a combination of Skulls and Sands (thanks to PSO and Trades/Buys from Members here )

What I will have when all arrive -
200 - $.25
200 - $.50
250 - $1
200 - $5
50 - $25

I have a $75 coupon to spend at Discount Casino Gear where Skulls/Sands are about $.61 each.

I am thinking I need to add 100 - $.50 (and just keep the $.25 out of play unless we want to do a beginner's $.25/$.50 NL ($20 Buy-In) night) and another 50 - $1.

Does the extra 150 chips make sense to round out the set?
Or what should I consider please?
I want to try and maximize my coupon and shipping from Discount and buy the right amount in one order.

Thanks a bunch in advance!

more $1's. with only 250, in a 20 man game, each player has very few. standard preflop raises will be $3, and that'll be a third of your 1s.

i'd go straight $1's with that extra 150

Re: What do I need to complete my cash set?

ps...what's teh point of more .50's? they're effectively small blinds, and so effectively out of play. you only need about 10 of these per player. and that's at the high end.

Re: What do I need to complete my cash set?

Either use 25 or 50¢ chips, you don't need both. The 25¢ denomination will afford you the most flexibility for both your .50/$1 game and lower denomination games.

Re: What do I need to complete my cash set?

Assuming a usual ten man table with buy ins at the $40/$100 level as above ($1000 cash in play in initial buy in)

200 x .25
400 X $1
300 X $5
100 X $25

$4,450.00 total bank (a little more than 4 buyins for a full table). You could maybe lower the $25 and up the $1 or $5. The .25 are realistically only going to be used for blinds, I'm willing to bet (ha!) most action is going to be at the $1+ level.

Re: What do I need to complete my cash set?

Yup, buy more $1 and $5.

Since you already have plenty of .25 and .50 chips (more than you need already)

I have a cash set:
70 .25 (no .50 chips)
300 $1
200 $5

My set is plenty for 10 people. My blinds are usually .25/.50. Nobody EVER bets .50 cents, someone would definitely raise them. Raises are usually $1-$3 pre flop.

Got any $5, $25, or $500 you won't use? I just completed the pokersource deal and have a 100 $1 chips that I'll never use.

I agree with the above.

With blinds starting at $0.50/$1.00, the typical bet will be $3.00, and it will be $1.00 to call. You already have far too many $0.50 chips and will probably never use the $0.25 chips. So $1.00 chips should be the smallest denomination to consider.

In a 20 man game, you're going to want to have at least 20 of your most commonly used denomination available to each player. In your case, that will be the $1.00 chip. Therefore, you will need 400 x $1.00 chips. Since you only have 250 of them right now, all of the new chips should be $1.00 chips.
