I was looking at some of my Paulson chips and came accross something that I had not noticed before. The logo around the edge of the Top Hat & Cane is different on some chips. I have some chips that the logo is the same all the way around and others that have two of them reversed.
In the ones that are the same the cane points to the lower left and the curved hand piece is in the top right. On the ones that are different there are two logos that are across from each other on the chips that point to the lower right and the curved hand piece is in the top left.
They each have eight logos on one side but the different ones have six pointing one way and two pointing the other. Is there a reason for this? I know that it is their logo, you would think that they would keep it the same all the way around.
There are several different patterns that are used for the TH&C molds. Robert Eisenstadt's site has a nice guide to the various molds that have been used over the years and includes the TH&C mold from it's origins with Paulson's predecessor Christy & Jones. http://www.antiquegamblingchips.com/...index_site.htm
