Re: Paulson chip.....

you can look in the chip review section to see some member opinions on paulson v nevada jack clays.

general consensus is that paulson makes a much better chip.

as to why there aren't a lot of sets with huge denominations...they usually aren't needed.

and i explained to you why you can't find one.

the new deadwoods have large denoms.
so do chipco classics and oysters.

but i don't think you'll find any easily obtainable paulsons.

Re: Paulson chip.....

why do you think they are not needed. its easier to have 5000 and 10000 then a bunch of 1000 right? if you have a tourny with 200 people it gets up to that. i thought that this site was the ones that made the Pharaohs and i see that many of you have many people over to play....was just wondering why.

The set was not allowed to include more than 7 colours. If a $5000 and/or $10000 chip was included, one or two of the other denominations would have had to go. I guess it was assumed that 25c and $1 was more useful than $5000 and $10000.

You can get some Pharaohs without denominations at www.holdempokerchips.com. Then you can decide yourself what value the chips should have. But of course it is not the same without numbers on them.

Otherwise, use a lower starting amount.

TT

You're running 200 player tournies? And using off the shelf Paulsons (expensive and not secure)?

Re: Paulson chip.....

yeah, i guess if i were running a 200 man tournament, i'd go with a 1000 chip buyin.

headsup, you'd have a total of 200 chips in play if you were using 1000's.

that doesn't seem so bad...

Re: Paulson chip.....

If your running a tournament with 200 participants you can probably have your own set of Paulsons made specifically for your use with any of the available colors and denominations you need. If your needs are actually in that area and you like the Pharaohs you should probably contact Ten about licensing the design and then contact Trademark about having the chips made. As Jojo mentioned T1000 would be a good starting point, that's also what our local cardroom starts it at for their tournaments. Insofar as denominations, T25 would probably be a good starting point. At that level with the 7 colors that Trademark and Paulson have available you could go 25-100-500-1000-5000-10000-25000
