A $50 chip is somewhat redundant, that's why you won't find it in casinos. You would have more versatility getting more 25s and 100s in place of the 50s. And someone had brought up the issue that some Native American gaming establishments view the denomination to be 'unlucky'.
Similarly, it was brought to my attention some time ago that the number 4 is unlucky or a symbol of death in some Asian cultures. And since many casinos attract a large number of patrons of Asian descent, most do not have $4 chips (though I did find that Binions, and the Horseshoe before them, does and did have $4 chips.)
