Poker question

How do you handle blinding out a person that is late. Do you deal the spot cards and then muck them or just leave the spot out and post the blinds. We don't deal any cards to someone that is not there but more than happy to put the chips in the middle.

Re: Poker question

We normally post their blind and deal them in - if they don't show up by the time it is their turn to act, their cards are mucked and their chips become part of the pot.

Re: Poker question

We do the same but if someone is outside talking on their cell phone, or smoking a cigarette, or whatever, they are dealt and folded. That way, if you are not at your seat when it is your turn, there is no question as to whether or not we have to wait for you.

Re: Poker question

In my game we usually just post the blinds and do not bother dealing the spot cards. I really should switch it to dealing the spot cards cause that's the proper way. Usually when someone is late they usually draw the button and show up before the blinds get to them anyways.

Re: Poker question

We always post, deal and fold. You never know when they will get back to the table.

Re: Poker question

Fairest way is to deal and muck if they don't show up. The problem with not dealing is they might just show before it is their turn to act.

But hey, if your rule says not to deal and they have to wait until next deal, that would be OK too.

Re: Poker question

Thanks for the help I guess I should change, sounds like I am doing it wrong. Most of the time its people that are 1/2 hour late and they may even miss the first round.

Re: Poker question

We post, deal and fold. If they don't show by the end of the first round we remove their chips from play (except what was posted as blinds already). BTW... This actually happened at my game last night (first time I had a no show ).

Re: Poker question

We post, deal and if they are not there to act in turn, fold. In a major turny where the Pro's are often late for the first round this is how itis handled.
