A friend of mine bought about 100 of them. We found 8 spinners, mostly in the red chips. Is this common? Also, they seem very slippery when stacked, probably as much as dice chips.

Yes, he applied labels. I didn't see how they were before the labels. He's a chip noob so I don't know if they spun before the labels. He can't recall. He printed the labels out and put them on as soon as he got them because he needed a higher denom for his home tourney yesterday night.

While you can't really expect a lot of consistency with the Chinese imports, there should be more than adequate room on any of the Nexgen chips to accommodate a label and still have plenty of clearance. The only thing that I can think of is that there is either particulate matter beneath the label, the label is applied off center and a portion of the label is resting on the chip's surface area, or the labels were heavily (and I mean really heavily) sprayed with a clear coating that has significantly increased the thickness of the label.

I have 600 Nexgens and even after labeling, not a single spinner. It's possible that the labels he applied are a thicker stock than normal, causing the label to be higher up than the rest of the chip...

Re: How common are "spinners" in the Nexgen series?
I have almost 1200 nexgens with labels and none of them spin, not before or after. The I dont' see how they could spin without a serious cupping or bubbling of the centers since they are recessed, or a mass amount of spray was put on the labels.

I'm gonna go to his place tomorrow night for a game. We played for a bit yesterday when I noticed the spinners. I'll take a better look at how well the labels were put on. I'm thinking maybe he did spray a lot because the chips are very slippery when stacked. I assume that's not the norm.
