Chips: 68 | | | Acrylic Chip Tray Can someone who has the acrylic chip trays from 5stardeal let me know what the outside dimensions of the trays are? This is the 5-row, 100 chip total (item#10-5030). If you have the covers I would appreciate the measurements with and w/out the covers on. I'm trying to figure out how many can be jammed into a USPS priority flat rate box. Because 5star wouldn't ship USPS to me, I have to send them first to continental US and then have someone reship via USPS. Ah, the price of living in Paradise. Thanks all! |

Those racks are relatively light, but they take up a lot of space, the flat rate box would be an expensive solution. You're probably better off having someone just ship it to you by Priority Mail. How many of them were you planning on getting? I was about to order some myself, maybe I can do the relay to USPS for you. You can PM me on this site with the info. I'm on the West Coast so it takes about a week to 10 days to get stuff from Trademark by ground. Quote: |

for the 10-5030 rack.
I do not have the covers.

The problem is, the covers do not match the trays, by just a hair. I called 5stardeal and the nice lady said that they mistakenly sent their old chip trays to me, and replacements are on their way. If you are planning on buying these, I would buy them as the set (they sell them as chip rack, chip rack cover, and as a set). |

I am also getting 700 of the faux clay chips with the trays so the package will be quite heavy, like maybe 30lbs. I have a brother on the West Coast who can relay them to me and pack the chips in the racks, but I think I can save some money by repackaging it into the flat rate box. I'm probably risking breaking the trays by packing the chips in them, but I'll take that risk. The only retailers who sell that kind of merchandise here want to charge $5-$6 bucks each for the trays! I'll have him see what the cost will be to just ship it as is, but the USPS online rate calculator says it would be $43.25 for Priority at 30lbs. The flat rate is $7.70 up to 70lbs to anywhere in the US.
Thank God the USPS remembers that Hawaii is in the US. It's so annoying to see ads for products with free shipping to anywhere in the US, only to see fine print excluding HI and AK. Oh well, I guess HI & AK are an afterthought to the rest of the country. |

Chips: 1,728 | | | Re: Acrylic Chip Tray Ah! I didn't know you were getting chips as well. My suggestion would be to try it in the 13.625" x 11.875" x 3.375 size box with the racks and chips. If that doesn't work, the chips are packaged in 50 chip tubes that would definitely fit into one of the flat rate boxes (do be liberal in using styrofoam popcorn or bubble wrap and pack it tight to prevent shifting which is what will more likely cause damage), and then ship the racks and covers in another box. The covers are what is going to consume a lot of space.
As a point of reference, I can put 800 chips in racks (stacked) into one of those 4 pack Ziploc® sandwich bag boxes from Costco which measures 10.5x8x6.5 with room for packing material, in a 4x2 stacking pattern with an inverted rack on top of each of the two stacks. If you do have the chips shipped in racks, I'd suggest using packing tape to wrap all of the racks as a single unit, and then padding the whole thing with plenty of packing material (multiple layers of bubble wrap will probably work best, and it's light).
Yes, the USPS has remembered that AK and HI is part of the US ever since 1959 and 1960 respectively and are obligated to treat both states as Zone 8 delivery zones within the US (same with APO/FPO addresses located anywhere.) Private carriers are not under that obligation and will charge according to actual distance and volume of traffic to those destinations. Quote: |
