Is anyone aware of any chip makers in South America?

I don't, but I think a lot of the South American countries also have very high tarriffs on products from China as well. Given the lower average income in many of those countries and the high unemployment, it pretty much makes it pretty rough.

THis is an interesting question. My suspicion is that South America is one of those places where poker doesnt really have any standing, like Italy.

My pet theory, completely unannotated, is that its because the non-international decks in use there are more popular than the 52 we use.

THat said, surely they have roulette, craps et al, so I suspect there must be chips somewhere. Maybe Castro sends them the ones he nationalized

I don't know, but FWIW all the chips I've seen from South American casinos have been made by B&G (the French company that bought Paulson).

I've noticed the same thing for the most part. I have seen some Peruvian ChipCos (not sure if they were legit or not). I do know there a few casinos down there so was wondering if it might be another source for chip manufacture.
