In working on getting my customs done I have been told some of the designs could have color bleed problems. This happens with magenta based colors - red, purple, etc on a white background. A black stroke around the design is used to minimize the issue, but does not guarantee it will not happen. Anyone have any Chipco pics of chips that have had color bleed issues?
I am probably being paranoid about nothing, but I am plunking down a large sum of cash for something I want to be perfect.
First ive heard of that, but i dont blame you one bit for asking....how many chips were you planning on ordering? I was also planning on goin that route down the road some... but the samples i recieved not to long ago are showing wear already from just shuffling...like the face is being rubbed off...ill post a pic of it shortly.
Also recently was at casino niagara..http://www.chipguide.com/cgi-bin/sea....cgi?id=nyirsg (they use chipcos) and those chips showed heavy wear but they are also used 24 hours a day, i asked how old the chips were and the floor boss said some were a year...some were 3 months old...i coudlnt tell. Having said that....i think they held up pretty well for a casino, but wouldnt want my chips at home looking like that for what they cost. I still would love a set.
Color bleed is an issue on Chipco with the colors you mention. You can mitigate in your design but you have to know what you're doing. I don't have any examples at hand.
Just to give you an example of what happens to red Chipco's when you store them - the picture on this other thread shows you how much color will start to wear off.
I dont understand why Chipco chips are considered some of the best chips on the market if the ink wears off after time. I was considering buying a set of 650 Rounders Casino chips but Im starting to have second thoughts.
How long would It take for wear on the chip to be noticable if I use the chips only twice a month? Or will the ink begin to bleed no matter what over time sitting in my case?
The red chipcos in my chip collection started to bleed after about 2 years of storage. They typically won't have much wear if you use them a couple of times a month. Casinos put them through a whole lot more daily wear.
It helps to keep your chips in a dry environment. Humid areas tend to speed up the bleeding process.

I don't know much about the ink bleeding problem. But I think the color red just seems to be a problem in general, from paint to fabric. Red paint seems to deteriorate/fade very quickly. And have you ever made the mistake of washing something red with your underwear? You only do that one once, because it sucks whens your tighty-whiteys are now pretty-pinkies.
The ink wear problem is from simple abrasion. Played with only twice a month for, let's say, 6 hours at a time--that's only 144 hours a year. A Chipco in a casino probably sees this much play within the first couple weeks of issue. So I'd say you'll be handing these chips down to your children before you see any significant wear!

I've got 19 samples that I've had for about a month now. I shuffle them about two hours a day.
The wear is EXTREMELY noticable, after just one month. It starts slowly on the already added white ring and migrates slightly on its way in from there.
