13 Gram Pro Clay Vs Nexgen. Discuss 13 Gram Pro Clay Vs Nexgen, on ChipTalk.net the place to go for your Poker chips and gambling tips. Read it in Poker Chip General.
Hi all and thanks in advance for any replies.
I'm in Oz and bringing chips in is very expensive. We pay for composites almost as much as you do for Paulson clay.
I'm looking at buying a set of Nexgen or 13 gram Pro Clay.
There seems to be the opinion out there that Nexgens are too slick (slippery). Is that so?
Does anyone have a set of Pro Clay and if so what is the quality like?
There's plenty said about the Nexgens but info on Pro Clay is harder.
Thanks

Welcome to the forum easy. One of the best things I can suggest to you is that you order some samples of the chips you're interested in and make your own judgement.
I have a set of NexGen's and are very satisfied. As for slickness, they aren't as slick as other chips I've handled. NexGen's will stack nicely and get less slippery as you use them. Plus you can add custom labels to the NexGens.
There are several places to get sample chips, I got my samples from 5stardeal.com.
Sure, there are other chips much better. But for the money I spent, I'm very satisfied with the NexGens.
Of course, once I win enough for some Paulson's or Custom Chipco's I will buy another set.
I would say they're about equal -- almost the same basic chip.
The material is very similar, though some of the Nexgens (like RPT) seem to have a slightly softer feel. They all sound about the same to me. They all look like they would take labels about the same. To me, they seem to stack about the same, though I don't have enough to make real big stacks.
There are multiple versions of Nexgens with different base colors and edge spot colors. The edge spots are designed to look like a clay chip. The 13g Casinos have little diamonds on the rolling edge between the edge spots, like a Bud Jones chip. But some of the Nexgens have these diamonds also.
Between the two, I would choose based on looks and price (and shipping weight down under, for you Aussies).
I hada the 13g pro clays, they were not slick at all. They almost felt rubbery, you could scratch the surface with a fingernail(not cause any major damage). They are a bit heavy of course 13g is a heavy chip, they don't sound anything like dice chips, much thicker clink than the metallic clink of a dice chip.
I have a set of the pro clays and I really like them. They have no metallic clank sound like 99% said and they feel as close to clay as a composite can feel in my opinion. I definetly think they are great for a low end non-clay chip. They also take a label very well. Hope this helps.
