My solid T-molds all oiled up...Lots of Pics!...but what to do???!!!
So here is my dilemma...I have been advised not to use the Day Green for hot stamping and as a base color by those that know way more about poker chips than I do.
So, I have 500 plus Day Green and am really wanting to hot stamp this set eventually.
Do I bail on the Day Greens & purchase Dark Green for the set and get them hot stamped...
OR
Keep this set as is, bail on a few of the Day Green because I have more than needed, and forget the hot stamp...
OR
Keep a small portion of this set and purchase the already hot stamped Tourney set from HEPC...
My only concern with the HEPC hot stamps is that I don't believe the chips are scraped before they are hot stamped. BCC charges to scrape the T-molds before they will hot stamp them, so I'm thinking there is a legitimate reason behind this??? Has anyone heard anything about spinners or uneven chips in the T-mold tourney hot stamps?
Re: My solid T-molds all oiled up...Lots of Pics!...but what to do???!!!
Hmm... maybe just label them? If you really want to hotstamp them then I might let go of the greens. I honestly think they show too much color variation anyway. If I were to keep them and already spent that much money, I would probably just get some nice labels for them and not even worry about hotstamping, warping, or any of that stuff.
Re: My solid T-molds all oiled up...Lots of Pics!...but what to do???!!!
Even with the scraping, isn't the price to stamp them the same from both vendors? Now that they are oiled, it is probably better to have them scraped so the foil bonds better.

Good point. Probably better to have had them stamped before oiling.

Not talking specifically about the Day Greens because HPC's has mentioned problems with some of the lighter colors, but as for hot stamping oiled chips, HPC says they've done that and are fine with it- http://www.chiptalk.net/forum/603740-post39.html
That doesn't mean it wouldn't be better to do before oiling, but oiling doesn't mean it can't be done.

Thanks. I didn't read through that whole thread since I am more interested in a cash set.

I didn't know that either. Thanks for the tip. I never bought chips that either weren't already stamped or didn't have inlays, well take that back if you include my fauxs and my old dice chips. I guess I mean chips that can be oiled.

Good point 3rd...although I have checked with BCC and they said no problem with them being previously oiled. I think as long as there has been a week+ after oiling it works.
I think they do come out to around the same price...Although, it would be cheaper to get the stock "Tournament" stamp from HEPC, otherwise it costs me $100 from BCC for a custom Tournament Stamp. I also like the idea of having the chips scraped, which BCC does. I would just hate to pay that much for my chips then find out that a bunch are uneven because the hot stamp pushed up some of the clay and they don't stack flat anymore...I know people have said they have not had that problem with the HEPC chips, but it seems there is a good reason BCC scrapes the chips!
I'm kind of torn on this as well because it is about an extra 10 cents per chip to go through BCC getting a tournament stamp which means I'm looking at close to $600 for hot stamping!
hmm...maybe I need to sell some of my chipco '05 WSOP replica's???
man... such a dilemma...what to do?! I know, I just need to win the lottery, that will solve all my chip problems!
