They look great... I got mine yesterday as well.

I can see in your pics that there is some color variations on the 1000s. They almost have a splotchy look to them. mine are the same way.

would oiling help? Not sure if I want to yet, but I wonder if it would even out the color.

My $1,000s are varied also and it's even more noticeable when oiled (to me). It doesn't bother me though and the players in my home game could care less.
