I bought a sample of European style "Prestige" jetons and plaques from a German online shop.
The material is plastic with a mother of pearl effect as is common in Europe. Several of the jetons are oversize.
The jetons have a recessed center while the plaques have uniform thickness. All have a black insert with gold print containing denomination and a pattern. The quality of the gold-printed inlay lacks uniformity. On some of the chips the print is off center. On the €1000 plaque, the print partially misses the black inlay and strays onto the coloured part of the plaque. On the €50 jeton, the black inlay is smaller than on the €10 and €20 jetons.
Unfortunately the batteries of my thickness measurement device are dead, so I can't measure the thickness accurately. The jetons are thicker than normal US-size chips. I estimate them to be around 3.5 mm thick. The plaques are even thicker (3.8 mm?), except for the €1000 plaque which is about the same thickness as the jetons.
As I have only one of each, stackability is difficult to test, but frictions seems very low, so the jetons probably wont stack well (max 10?). The plaques, being bigger and having a uniform thickness, would probably stack alright.
Here are two list, one for jetons and one for plaques containing denomination (€), size (mm) and approximate weight (g) and price (€ including German VAT).
Jetons:
€1, 40 mm, 4.6g, €0.69
€2, 40 mm, 4.6g, €0.69
€5, 40 mm, 4.6g, €0.69
€10, 44 mm, 5.1g, €0.79
€20, 44 mm, 5.1g, €0.79
€50, 44 mm, 5.1g, €0.79
€100, 48 mm, 6.5g, €0.99
Plaques:
€100, 75 x 40 mm, 13.4g, €1.95
€200, 75 x 45 mm, 15.3g, €1.95
€500, 92 x 60 mm, 24.8g, €2.95
€1000, 92 x 69 mm, 23.8g, €2.95
The €100 plaque is not shown in the picture as the vendor sent me one without the denomination sign (€).
