Aluminum camera case (for chip storage and travel)

I just got this case on ebay for $27 total (shipping included).
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...category=50505

It's not as wide or as long as the case from Lowe's or the Husky case from Home Depot but it is 2 inches deeper. I was looking for the Lowe's type case on Ebay because there isn't a Lowe's within convenient distance from my house and the Husky case from Home Depot does not come with foam in the top lid.

I did find many cases similar to the Lowe's case but when I saw this I wanted it more because it's more compact but yet I think it will still hold 1200 or more chips (my guesstimate). I'll report back when I get it.

I got the case and I have 1175 chips inside (500 of one set and 675 of another set).

Well made case is it? Better than say- an average aluminum chip case? -I see you have it pretty well stuffed!

Enjoy!

So far it seems very well made. I flung it around pretty good once I got it full and the handle is on there solid. To get a snug fit (I mean really snug too) I have to stack the chip racks 3 high so that they won't flip around while the case moving. You don't need covers on the racks as the foam on top holds the chips in place (when stacked 3 high). I can get 12 chip racks (4 rows of 3 each - not pictured) and still have the little divider at one end (see pics for divider placement) which allows me to fit playing cards and other stuff or 1 plastic chip box or 2 cardboard chip boxes. I only have 5 plastic chip boxes so I haven't tested how many I could get in there with chip boxes but using chips racks I can get 1200 chips + 1 plastic chip box for 1300 chips or plus 2 cardboard chipboxes for 1400 chips.

I really like the fact that it's not very wide. The top and bottom of the case are padded with foam and it comes with plenty of additional foam (which I removed). It also comes with many divider pieces (I only used one) so that you could have sections if you choose. Now I don't have to make 4 trips to move my stuff from the basement to the garage or vice versa and if I ever need to hit the road, it won't be a hassle to bring both my cash game and tourney set-up. All in all, a good buy for $27 to my door.

You just addressed a concern I had upon first glance. I live on a gravel road, so transporting chips from my house to a game involves a lot of jostling. I was concerned how well the chipracks would stay in place. When you're carrying them, are the chip trays laying on end, or do you not carry it by the handle?

If you stack the chip racks 3 high, they are very secure in the case and will not budge (snug fit). You could also consider using chip boxes (4x25) as well and a combination of chip racks and chip boxes works well too.

I posted this yesterday regarding an inquiry about the case and this thread:
"The ebay link is dead now but do a search on ebay for "camera case" +aluminum and you'll find quite a few out there. My case dimensions are 14.5L x 9.5W x 6H. The case is still in great condition after over a year and I've been thinking of getting a second one."
