Chips: 303 | | | Packemup- correct me if I'm wrong, but if I'm reading this right- there's actually 20 racks, 2 per species set that can double as a cover. (?)
So that's $20 per actual rack, which isn't bad at all considering most imported wood racks can cost $10-$14 each- depending where you shop. Those don't look anything like these, nor would I imagine they'd be as well built.
I've been thinking about building my own chip case. Your chip racks have given me some inspiration... especially after getting my 'so-called' mahogany (actually presswood) chest.

. | Yep roughly $20 per tray, and the trays double as lids for storage.
I just played with them for the first time. We played for 10 hours from 8pm to 6am...and I managed to get almost half of my tray money back! Woohoo! Canary Wood seems to be my lucky tray! |

I don't know if I have the right tools or not, but it's something I think I'd like to take a stab at. Those look frickin sah-weet. |

. | Excellent observation on the actual number of racks and the cost breakdown.
Also, I think there should be a new term to describe the fake pressboard "mahogany" cases -- perhaps "Faux-hogany"? |

You probably could do it with equivalent hand tools if you have a good eye, and a steady hand.

Chips: 13,014 | | | They really look great. I would love a set, but would probably opt to buy them rather than risk botching a set I tried to make on my own - I love working with wood, but I 'm just not that skilled. I am going to look into these more.
Have you tried out the trays with actual Paulson chips to see how they fit?

I should have taken the "real wood - mahogany finish" description as a clue. The price (<$80) should have risen another flag. But I expected a lesser grade wood- not pressboard.
For a 600 case, it was better than any of the aluminum one's I looked at, and the 'fit & finish' is good. I gave mine a couple coats of paste wood wax and that helped the looks even more.
Now I'm looking around for some black walnut.... or maybe some real mahogany.
