Plastic Chip Rack Quality

Can anyone offer an opinion or insight into any manufacturers that make quality plastic chip racks?

Specifically, I'm looking for racks that also have a cover. I believe the Chipco racks are available with a cover. The ones I've seen store 4 rows of 25 chips and have a large diamond on the cover. Anyone know if these will hold 100 Paulsons? Are these the exact ones that 5Star has for under 2 bucks?

Anyone? Bueller?

I have the 5StarDeal chip boxes (fyi, "rack" usually refers to the 5x20 tray, which is more for in-game use, and "box" refers to the 4x25 container that is primarily for storage/transport): they are made of a somewhat flexible, hard vinyl-type of plastic, and like everything else in the world, are made in China. My only beef with them is that they are a bit oversized and can hold 26 Paulson JBs per row instead of 25. I believe the Chipcos are correctly-sized and hold only 25 chips per row, and may be made of a different plastic as well. I am certain that the 5StarDeal boxes are not the same as the Chipco boxes.

I don't recommend the 5x20 racks with covers as storage/transport containers because the covers don't stay on very well, and the plastic is harder and more brittle than the 5Star chip boxes.

I have some 'made in China' boxes that have a diamond lid but but are arranged 5x20 instead of 4x25. The rows are a bit oversized, and 20 chips will move a bit, but it's too short to fit 21- without 'excessive force'.

Are you sure you don't have racks with covers? The boxes generally cover almost the entire diameter of the chip. The racks cover a little less than 1/2 the diameter of the chip and are organized in 5x20.

I have the 5star 10-5030 and they will hold 5x20 Nexgens and Suits cheepos. I don't have enough clay or chipcos to try them out.

PocketRocket. Sorry, you're correct. They are racks, not boxes. Mischoice of words... ops:

Yes, boxes are apparently built quite different. Can't say for sure, as I don't own any.

The $5 a pop price for the Chipco box is really high when compared to the "other" chip boxes that reportedly fit 26 Paulson's to a row. I have the other chip boxes and they fit 25 of my NJ skulls and Nexgens, but there is some play there and if the Paulson's are even a fraction thinner per chip, I can see how 26 would fit in a row. With the price difference though, I'm willing to deal with the inconvenience.

I am currently using chip boxes to store my Paulson's (they were $0.95 each from Discount Casino Gear) but also am less than satisfied with them. The problem is not the quality per se, but the fit of the chips as noted by several other posters. I can't actually fit 26 chips (without forcing them anyway), but 25 chips fit loosely. Not loosely enough to damage anything (at least not yet) but loose enough to annoy me. I am going to purchase one of the CHIPCO boxes to see if it is any better and, if so, I will be trading them all out. With the amount of money I have invested in my chips, I want a storage box that fits them well. Plus, I am just anal-retentive and if I don’t find something better my OCD will get the best of me and I will never be satisfied.

I'm going to try out the Chipco boxes, too. If I notice the same gap with 25 chips, I might try cutting a sheet of closed-cell foam into discs the same diameter of the chips and using these to cushion each row.

I use the racks more than I use the boxes, so I'm more concerned with how they'll fit in my racks. I got 16 racks but they're not all exactly the same width so I'll have to see what's what when I get the Pharaoh's and the ASMs...are they here yet?
