Chips: 1,340 | | | Coffee table display for chips So my wife, while supportive of my interest in chips, is less than thrilled about me always having my wooden chip case sitting open on the coffee table. Hey, I like to look at them and fiddle with them while watching TV... call me crazy.
So when I saw this item on eBay recently, I figured I could restore some domestic bliss to my hubble home, while at the same time still being able to display a few of my favorite chips in a convenient way. At least one that takes up a bit less real estate on the coffee table.
I had wondered about one of the traditional round style chip racks, but most seem so big and.... well... round. I have also seen rectangular ones, with this same open rack design, but again they were all pretty big. This one seemed small, but still useful. I had not previously seen this exact design.
Unless this thing arrives and seems to be a real antique, I'm probably going to give it a light sanding and a light coat of oil to clean it up a bit. And then replace the supposedly 'wooden' chips that are in it with some of my own. So there you go..... Anyone else have chip display needs that you've met in an interesting way? Just curious.
Regards,

Chips: 111 | | | Way to go, a true chip junkie. Are you sure the rack will be wood and not plastic? |

The eBay listing says the rack is marked, "Another Pla-wood Product, Cleveland, Ohio" on the bottom. Looking at the picture I assumed that was wood grain I was seeing. Now.... I'm not so sure. Anyone know this company or what the rack might be made of? It's enroute right now, so I won't have it until probably the end of next week.
Thanks,

Chips: 18,645 | | My wife got me a case like this last week: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...tem=6187754768
It lays flat (unlike the picture) and shows off 500 chips nicely. It's about 8x20 inches so it takes up a bit of room on a coffee table, but it's an OK case for the money. [/hidefromwifey]
Personally I prefer Paulson racks in a birdcage, but my darling wife got creative for my birthday, so now it is my favorite case... for certain chips.

Thanks,
Allan | I'll lay you 2 to 1 odds that it will be plastic. That Pla-wood gives it away. |

Either way, I'll take it in and give it a good home.
Robert Eisenstadt's site has a mention of Pla-wood chips, being made by a company called The General Timber & Lumber Co., Cleveland Ohio, under the moniker 'Pla-M-Well'. But maybe the timber company only made the chips out of wood and the rack is plastic. Oh well, no worries.

Chips: 157 | | Looks like wood to me (Kinda like those chopping block tables). My fiance got me this chip case from The Bombay Company that holds 500 chips and it is the nicest case I have ever seen (except for some custom builds from a humidor manufacturer). It is on sale for half price right now at $89.50. It came with the chips in this pic, but I am selling them and it now houses my cash game set. |

Hard to tell from the photos, does it have a hinged lid, and is that wood also, or is it clear on top? I'll have to go and check out Bombay!

AB | It most likely isn't plastic, probably a type of fiberboard (MDF)... though maybe real wood. | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
