Time to make a new case purchase

I am expecting about 4000 BCC Customs within the next month or two. I have several 500 chip cases, however since I would have to buy more cases anyway, I would like to pretend I dont even have them.

So My question is, do I go acryllic case, or 1000 pc standard case, or do you guys have/suggest a better alternative... They need to be semi mobile, so no solid cabinets until I grab a house next year...

Give this some thought. It's a really unique idea.

The Claysmith aluminum case holds five racks (yes, racks) and are solidly constructed, with strong luggage latches and a sturdy yet comfortable handle:

I got mine for $47 shipped on eBay, but it looks like prices have gone up a bit since. Mine was from Brybelly Holdings: "call 888-765-3740 or email us at Jeff@brybelly.com" - maybe they still have some in stock at the old price.

Old West Poker Supplies (a CT sponsor) also sells them, at at current eBay prices plus shipping, Sal's prices on the cases are probably competitive.

I also like the 1000-ct acrylic carriers. Very simple and classy design that also displays your chips.

I store several sets of chips in 1000-chip acrylic carriers. These carriers are a great storage solution: They are compact and make a nice chip display. My chips don't leave home, but if they did, I would wrap a short luggage strap around an acrylic carrier for added security.

The rest of my chips are in a 1000-pc engraved presentation case or in storage boxes in a cabinet.

Ditto

Also, once upon a time I bought 3 cheapo brief cases from Staples or Office Depot and I could fit, I think, 8 racks inside. I'd then put 8 empty racks (upside down) on top of those eight, cut a piece of foam to lay over the whole thing & maybe sure all was tight & off I went. EVERYTIME I went through security at an airport I was forced to open the case and in one friggen "case" I had to empty out everything. TSA hard at work.

The 1,000 chip bird cages are the way to go with a large set.

I can't speak on the quality of these but it might be something to look into a little more especially if you want to travel a bit with them. 2000pc Aluminum Poker Chip Trolley

I have to say I own 2 of these for my bigger sets and they work great for what I bought them for. They are easy to wheel in & out of the storage closet and from one end of the house to the other.

I don't know if I would recommend them for cross county travel or even lugging up & down too many stairs. The trolly wheels are lightweight and feel too flimsy for heavy use IMO. However it does have a sturdy enough handle if you want to muscle them up or down some stairs.

Re: Time to make a new case purchase

I just got one of these and I love it!

Pros
It rolls great
The handle is very comfy
The box and latches are sturdier than I expected
The drawers actually fit pretty tight
The wheeled handle extends quite tall
The handle and wheels detach with no tools and make the trolley a smaller box for when you are short on space or not able to wheel it anyways

Cons
There were no keys for the locking latches
One of the drawers was dirty and I had to wash it and 25+ chips
The handles on the drawers only have one bolt in each end so the handles are not tight and probably would fall off if you picked a tray up by just the handle. - do note that you would spill all your chips picking a drawer up that way anyways

Do note it weighs about 14.5 pounds empty and mine is already 57.5 pounds with 1775 chips in it.
