500 chip Mahogany Poker Chip Case from 5stardeal

Has anyone bought one of these? Mine came in the other day and I opened it up this morning, instead of seeing a deep dark mohagany wood stained grain I see what appears to be just some thick acrylic paint and no would grain. Does anyone know if these are actually real wood or just MDF with heavy acrylic paint? Plus it seems more like it holds 580+ chips as I still have a row and a half left after adding my 500 chips. It's a great solid case but why advertise Mahogany and cover it with paint??

I almost bought that case several times. I was told a nice wooden case would run 300 to 400 bucks, so i have been kinda waiting to get more info. A guy i know in AZ. bought one and sent it back.
CinOs, what do you think of it?-----------SOUNDS LIKE A REVIEW

I think I'm gonna go for broke and sand this thing down tonight. If its real wood it will be restained if not it gets some black paint and some james bond graphics.

I have the 600 mahogany case and absolutely love it(holds 650+++). I've been lugging my chips arround in it for almost 3 years and the handles/hinges are still in top shape. mine shows wood grain, but i would agree that someone slapped some cheap/dark laquer over the wood to give it a more 'exspensive' look. There's been many weekends that I've considered sanding it down and refinishing it with something a little more durable and scratch resistant, but then i just end up playing poker isntead I give this case two thumbs and a big toe up.
