Has anyone bought this inexpensive aluminum chip case?

1000 Chip Aluminum Hard Side Case : DenverPokerShop.com

Its 20$ a pop for the 1000 chip case and they say its built sturdier than the other ones on the market. That would be really nice if it were true.
I'm just looking for something in this price range that can hold around 1000 chips. Might even buy two of them. Anyone with experience on inexpensive chip cases have any input? Or chip carriers with chip racks.

i have what appears to be this exact case. i wouldn't say it's flimsy, but i did just buy a few to replace it. it won't fall apart, but it's not rock solid either.

That's what I thought, because my buddy has one just like that. I took a look at the handle and it looked identical.

IMHO 1000 chip aluminum cases are just plain not suited for hauling chips. Two 500 chip cases would be easier to deal with. If the handle is plastic count-down to breakage considering how much weight it needs to support. Bird cages are better suited for that many chips I think.

A case with wheels on it - that's a different story.

Two cases for 500 chips would be better in my opinion.
It's easier to haul around and less likely that the handle will break off from its hinges.

Re: Has anyone bought this inexpensive aluminum chip case?

I had one of those 1000-chip cases (sold it with 1000 chips), and I also have the identical 750-chip model. As others have said, I don't recommend carrying around 1000 chips in a single case - the weight is simply too much stress on the design.

All of my 750-chip cases have held up well (I also have two others, different design, same handle), but that's about the maximum I'd feel safe with, long-term. If you need carry storage for 1000 chips, either get a birdcage or go with two 500-chip cases.

The most annoying thing for me is finding an affordable case that is 500+ chips that does NOT have a spot for cards and dice.

I use the card spaces for storing plaques, and the dice slot for storing plastic 'reserved' buttons.
