Making a chip display with my new toy- Ryobi 10" Drill Press

Picked me up a new toy this morning at HD, Ryobi 10" Drill Press. $99, 10% off for Military ID Holders, so $90 and change out the door.

I got it because I wanted to make a chip display for some of my chips that have been hiding away in my closet. Here is a very rough draft of what I am thinking about doing.

Using a 40MM Forstner Bit from MLCS, I made some holes, sprayed some 3M77, and then covered it with some leftover SSC. Cut some stars in the holes and pressed the chips in place.

The chips are held in place and will not fall out even if tipped upside down.

Here is a closeup shot that looks pretty sweet. I used Chipco and Paulson chips here...

Here it is with a frame that I made from some scrap plywood. Need to work on my miter cuts a little, but I think once I get some nice frame stock and some glass this will come out rather nice. Also, play around with the spacing just a little bit, I don't think they need to be spaced so far apart.

I went to Joanns and Michaels to see if they would sell me some frame stock and neither place would sell it by the foot to me. I am heading up to NC next weekend, so I will see what my dad has in his shop and probably snag some of what he has laying around.
