"New" Task Force??
I decided to go and get a second Task Force Case from Lowe's tonight to store my new hybrids in so that I could carry them along with all the other stuff I typically need for the side cash games: dice box, clipboard, prop sheets, double-deck setup for blackjack, misc buttons (kill, 1/2 kill, reserve seat, dealer).
So when I get to the store they are in the same spot they were before, but I notice right away the handle is different. I pull one out of the box and notice it is A LOT flimsier than the previous one I bought. CRAP. I went to the support desk and ask the clerk about the differences and my concerns about it breaking and she said, "Well I have been here for 5 years, and I have never seen one returned damaged. So I think you'll be safe, but you know you don't have to buy it."
Right away I said to myself....YOU THINK I'LL BE SAFE????? WHAT ABOUT MY BABIES???? It seemed useless to explain what I wanted the case for so I just skipped it. I did get a little hot under the collar. Not at her, but at the company that makes this Task Force case. I know that woman was just doing her job and she was absolutely right, I didn't need to buy it, and I could have looked for something else. Well, they didn't have anything else that I thought "looked" as good, or would be as functional so I picked up 1 for $24.95.
I packed it up tonight and carried it around for a little, and it seems to holding up okay, but I am going to keep a close eye on the latches as well as the handle. Why do companies do stuff like this?? The original case I bought is as tough as nails! Why change that??? I know they are trying to make a buck, its just the point of the whole thing! If it ain't broke, don't fix it!!
Anyways, my mini-rant is over...I will post some pics of both cases later.
