Re: What size chip box do you prefer?

Definitely build them where chip racks fit inside them. I wish the cases that I own now would hold standard racks instead of the wooden racks that have 4 rows that hold 25 chips. You cant stack them when you remove them, which makes them pretty much useless. Also, I like the idea of a long chip case that is deep enough to have a top layer that is shelf-like or tray if you will that you can remove.

Re: What size chip box do you prefer?

Keep in mind that weight might be a factor. I have two of the 600 acrylic carriers(same as shown above), and when filled with 600 casino Paulsons, they are just the right weight for me to easily move around (I can carry both at once without any trouble, and a 100 lb female shouldn't have any trouble handling one of them, for example). I also have a 1000 carrier with 1200 PI clay chips in it (used to have 1000 x 12.2g Nexgens in it, which weighed about the same), and I can easily lift it onto a table or whatever, but I wouldn't want to carry it more than a block.

Your wooden boxes are bound to be (significantly) heavier, so a 600 chip box (filled) might be 40 lbs or more... That's fine if it rarely moves, but you don't want somebody throwing out his back when he goes to lift it. I definitely wouldn't want to go bigger than that, and even 400 might be more practical.

Re: What size chip box do you prefer?

I'm not sure I would use a wood case to carry chips around town. I would use the case as presentation only or to bust out at the next home game, but not to be transported all over town. Wood is too fragile I think to be used for transport.

Now maybe a smaller wood case for 400 chips would be a nice thing, flat and sleek like a little chip briefcase.
