Chips: 328 | | | 66.7 mm chip racks I recently ordered ten or so 66.7 mm chip racks from Discount Casino Gear. They aren't bad, especially for well-worn Paulsons. But for less worn chips, it is a tight fit-- too tight, with the chips on either end of some rows of 20 sticking up a mm or so. Usually it's the middle cup with the problem, but on some racks the outer cups are tighter. It's a big issue with mint chips. I wouldn't want to stack these racks for fear of putting too much weight on the end chips.
Aside from Paulsons, I also want to store a lot of B&G chips. These fit PERFECTLY in an official Paulson rack that I have. But again, same issue with irregular/overly snug cups on the DCG racks.
I emailed DCG about this and they said they'd look into it.
Dwight87 recommended Casino Discount Supplies for 66.7 racks. I didn't go with them because shipping was kind of high and I didn't want to buy anything else from their store. I might try their racks but I have a feeling they may come from the same manufacturer as DCG's racks.
What do you guys do for storage? Also I have heard of 70mm racks?
edit: forgot to ask... anyone know of any difference in quality among the 10-rack birddcages sold by different distributors? They all look the same but Spinetti's is cheapest I think.

I bought 66.7 racks from two sources, including Discount Casino Gear, and they seem like they all came from the same source. The top edges of each row curve inward ever so slightly at the outer edges, which can prevent the end chip from seating all the way down. At first I was reluctant to use them but have since decided that these racks are better than the 67.7 racks that allow my chips to move around too much. None of my chips have been damaged (Pharaoh's, BCC T-molds from HPC, and Starbursts). As an aside, when in LV I noticed that some of the casinos are using these same racks, which have the same problem, and the casinos stack their racks much higher than I stack mine. I'm sure the casinos are not overly concerned about putting stress on the end chips.

. | The ones that I have seen at Overstock, Palm, DCG, pretty much anywhere that carries the clear acrylis with the black corner reinforcements, base and handle are all the same manufacturer. I have had 3 all from different suppliers (Overstock, Discount Casino Gear, and I think 5 Star Deal), and all of them were identical. |

Chips: 626 | | | Re: 66.7 mm chip racks I'm sorry to hear this. I was just about to order 10-20 of the 66.7mm racks from Discount Casino Gear. On their site they claim that the racks are a perfect/identicle match to the official Paul-son racks. Looking at the pictures they appear to be the same but if there are issues I may have to pass. |

I would personally skip the 10 rack birdcages and go with the 600pc clear acrylic carrying case which contains a lock. I bought the birdcage from Spinettis myself and did not like it because it was too heavy to carry 10 full racks. Also, the clear case does not close completely when you stack 5 racks on each side. The locking mechanism on the 600pc acrylic carrying case is wonderful. I have kids that run around the house and so the lock is really helpful for me. No more missing chips! I bought two cases so I can carry 1000 chips, 10 racks, my cards, my dealer button, and my digital timer. You can find them online, which is the lowest I've seen. 600 PC Clear Acrylic Case from Secure Internet Store

Chips: 3,054 | | | Re: 66.7 mm chip racks Racks from all these places (DCG, 5stardeal, Apachepokerchips, etc., etc., etc.) are drop-shipped by Trademark Poker from Ohio. DCG might "look into it", but really they never even touched the racks, as I'm sure they came directly from Trademark to your house.
By the way, I bought mine from Apache (drop-shipped from Trademark) when ordering some other stuff and noticed the same issue: brand new uncirculated chips are a tight squeeze and stick up at the ends, while even slightly used chips fit perfectly. I guess that means I have to use my new chips more!
By the way, "70 mm" racks are 3 mm wider (duh!), so they'll nearly accomodate a 21st chip per row. These are the ordinary "cheap Chinese" racks (vs. the "expensive Chinese" 66.7 mm racks), and are thin-walled, brittle, and not worth spending money on, imo.
If you can't find old Paul-son racks (or sneak them out of the casino), then you just have to shuffle your chips a bit more to get them to fit! | | | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
