I'd bet that if you get a 1000 chip cage, you could take it to a plexyglass shop and have them cut it down for you.

Sure this might be possible, but I think the problem would be in the shaft that is attached to the base. If you cut down the cover, you would also have to cut down the shaft, in which case the handle would be lost. They would have to re-cut the hole for the handle. I think the entire process would be more a PITA than anything. Better off just getting the actual 400, or 800, count cage from the get-go.

I spoke with our case manufacturer- the good news is: they will make a combined order for us using the heavy acrylic in 400pc 600pc and 1000pc--

were thinking 300pc of each one
The bad news is: they have NO specs for a 400pc carrier only the 600 and 1000 so we would need to supply them with precise measurements for the 400pc carrier

anyone good with designing stuff?

As far as the measurements, just subtract the height of a chip rack with chips in it from a 600pc case.
