Chips: 197 | | | For those that have had a need to store 1000 tourny chips, which would you recommend? i have 1000 tourney chips that i use weekly. i want something that is easy to transport them in from the storage room to the table. i will never have a need to transport these outside the house.
so...for those of you that have found the ultimate solution, what is it?
2 x 500pc cases
1 x 1000pc case
1 birdcage
other
i think im actually leaning towards the 2 x 500 solution using the lizard cases that are on amazon -- right now, for no other reason than they dont have card slots. 500 pc lizard case w/out card slot |

I have a 1000-carrier (actually has 1200 chips in it, so the cage doesn't quite make it to the bottom, but still serves its purpose), and 2 x 600-chip carriers (not actually cages in the same sense... but similar look at least). They're great for several reasons: Counting chips before and after (if you have the correct sized racks, that is), great for showing off the chips while "stored", easy to transport... |

As jdunford mentioned not only are they relatively portable*, but also a great way to display your chips when they're not in use.
*I say "relatively portable" because I wouldn't want to lug one around to a game once a week, but that's just my opinion.

I occassionally carry them down the block for a game at my neighbors and have never had a problem with carring them. They are a little heavy , but the carrier has held up very well.
I treat them very carefully though. |

Chips: 219 | | | Re: For those that have had a need to store 1000 tourny chips, which would you recomm I use 2 500 chip cases. They are easy to manage, one in each hand. I had a 1000 case, but it was heavy and not as stable as I'd like. By the way, one of the cases has a clear acrylic top with 5 acrylic racks inside, so I do have some of the "show off" factor for my chips (well, half of them anyway). I have heard that the bottom mounts on the birdcage carrier are prone to coming loose/breaking. I have no personal experience with them, but I have read that. By looking at pictures of them, it makes sense to me that this could be probable. I looked into getting a birdcage type carrier with racks but for tourneys, it didn't offer any advantage when dividing up the chips. I don't have many cash games, so it's not like I'm handing out a rack to each player. |

They're built the same as the 1000 chip version, but they only have to carry 60% of the weight, so I'm guessing that they'd be less likely to fail during transit. | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
