I've often wondered why nobody has made a good chip case in plastic (like those cases for fishing equipment you see in Walmart with multiple smaller boxes that go in an outer carry sleeve). I saw this on fleabay for $5:
Probably only suitable for long-term storage (would you trust those latches?). I wonder whether the plastic is ABS, as claimed (looks like the latch is the same plastic as the case itself and would ABS be flexible enough ?).
Shipping ($12) bumps the cost and means you'd need to buy a few to be worth it, compared with other storage options.
I don't know about this one. I'd feel like I was bringing my cordless drill to the poker game with that case. Upon seeing the case, others may think so too. I think the advantage to that case is the light weight which would tend to encourage portability. But as you mentioned, I wouldn't trust those latches either. I don't think light weight is a requisite for long term storage. So what's the advantage? Price, I suppose. In my opinion this case it tacky. Besides, I feel I need the obligatory "felt" lining for my chips, even if just to make things seem fancy, like Vegas. If no felt lining, then chip racks. I also don't care for the somewhat staggered rows. I've seen dice chips presented in nicer cases. I guess some egghead may bring up the possibility that the plastic doesn't protect against extremes of temperature or humidity. To each his own, I guess.
